Job Title: Mechanical BIM Designer Job Description The Mechanical BIM Designer is a detail-oriented professional responsible for configuring data center sites within a network infrastructure planning platform. This role involves entering and validating site measurements, equipment locations, and pathway configuration data that support cable routing, port planning, and infrastructure deployment activities. The ideal candidate has experience interpreting technical drawings, floor plans, and site documentation to accurately translate physical environments into digital configurations. This position requires strong attention to detail, collaboration with field teams and vendors, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a remote work environment. Responsibilities Load and maintain site configuration data within a network infrastructure planning system. Enter detailed data hall measurements, including cable tray dimensions, pathway distances, rack elevations, and cabinet locations, to support network infrastructure planning. Validate all entered data against source documentation, including design drawings, as-built surveys, and vendor measurement packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Coordinate with field teams, engineering teams, and vendors to clarify measurement discrepancies and obtain missing information. Track progress for assigned sites and provide timely status updates to stakeholders. Follow established processes, standards, and documentation requirements to maintain consistency across site configurations. Identify and escalate configuration issues, data conflicts, and documentation concerns for resolution. Utilize spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools to organize measurement information and manage multiple site deployments. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support project milestones and site readiness activities. Contribute to team performance metrics, including site configuration throughput, data accuracy, and project turnaround times. Review infrastructure layouts and documentation to ensure routing and placement information is accurately represented within planning systems. Support process improvement initiatives related to site configuration, data validation, and infrastructure planning workflows. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Experience working with web-based applications, databases, or configuration management systems. Ability to read and interpret site drawings, floor plans, BIM models, construction documents, and measurement packages. Experience with technical documentation and translating physical layouts into digital representations. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data management tools. Effective written communication skills for collaborating with engineering teams, field personnel, and vendors. Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote environment. Familiarity with BIM, CAD, construction documentation, or infrastructure design workflows. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with data center environments, including cable tray systems, rack layouts, and network infrastructure components. Experience with BIM software, CAD platforms, or facilities documentation tools. Background in telecommunications, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, construction, or infrastructure deployment. Understanding of network cabling concepts, including fiber optic and copper connectivity. Experience utilizing enterprise planning, asset management, or infrastructure management systems. Ability to work effectively with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, and email. Experience reviewing as-built documentation and field-collected measurements. Interest in supporting large-scale infrastructure deployment projects through accurate configuration and planning activities. Work Environment This role operates in a 100% remote work environment and typically aligns with Pacific Time hours to facilitate collaboration with the broader team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
