About Us
Ristretto is a fast-growing premium electric mobility company redefining the riding experience through cutting-edge design, engineering precision, and exceptional customer support. Based in Austin, TX, we build high-performance electric two-wheelers—from next-generation e-bikes to full electric motos—that push boundaries in power, range, and design.
As we expand our global product development capabilities and prepare for upcoming vehicle launches, we are looking for a Mechanical CAD Modeler / Product Development Engineer to support the design, refinement, prototyping, and testing of mechanical components across Ristretto’s electric mobility platforms.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is highly capable in 3D CAD modeling, mechanical component development, prototyping, and validation, and who can work closely with industrial designers, engineers, and manufacturing partners across APAC.
Position Overview
The Mechanical CAD Modeler will support the development of mechanical components from concept through prototype and production.
A key initial project will include the modeling, prototyping, testing, and refinement of the Ristretto bashguard, including evaluating fitment, structural performance, manufacturability, durability, and integration with the vehicle platform.
You will work directly with Ristretto’s engineering and product teams to convert concepts and design intent into production-ready mechanical solutions.
What You’ll Work On
3D CAD Modeling & Mechanical Development- Create and refine detailed 3D CAD models for vehicle components and assemblies
- Translate industrial design concepts into manufacturable mechanical parts
- Develop brackets, guards, mounts, enclosures, structural components, and related hardware
- Create production drawings, tolerances, assembly references, and technical documentation
- Support ongoing engineering revisions and prototype iterations
- Maintain accurate CAD files and revision control throughout development
Bashguard Development & Testing- Model and refine the bashguard assembly and related mounting architecture
- Evaluate component geometry, clearances, structural requirements, and vehicle integration
- Coordinate prototype manufacturing and physical fitment
- Develop and support test procedures for impact resistance, durability, vibration, and real-world riding conditions
- Document test results and identify required design improvements
- Iterate the component based on testing, engineering feedback, and manufacturing constraints
- Support final design validation before production release
Design for Manufacturing- Apply DFM/DFA principles throughout the development process
- Design components suitable for CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, welding, extrusion, and other manufacturing processes
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve manufacturability issues
- Review samples and identify deviations from drawings or design intent
- Support tooling, fixture development, and production readiness
Testing & Validation- Participate in mechanical testing and prototype evaluation
- Identify failure modes and recommend engineering improvements
- Support durability, vibration, fitment, and structural testing
- Document engineering findings and corrective actions
Global Collaboration- Work closely with Ristretto engineering, industrial design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams
- Coordinate with suppliers and factories in China, Taiwan, and other APAC markets
- Participate in prototype reviews and production validation
- Communicate technical requirements clearly across international teams
Qualifications
Required- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, product development, or related engineering work
- Strong 3D CAD modeling capabilities
- Experience creating production-ready mechanical components
- Understanding of tolerances, materials, assemblies, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with prototype development and physical product testing
- Experience designing for CNC machining, fabrication, casting, welding, or similar processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to independently solve mechanical design problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred- Experience with SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360
- Background in motorcycles, e-bikes, automotive, powersports, bicycles, or other vehicle products
- Experience with structural or impact-sensitive components
- Experience working with manufacturers in China or Taiwan
- Familiarity with testing methodologies and engineering validation
- Experience taking components from concept → prototype → testing → production
Schedule & Working Hours- Global / remote-friendly role
- Must be able to collaborate across Austin CST, Hong Kong HKT, and APAC time zones
- Travel to manufacturing partners may be required depending on project needs
