The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the advanced technical design and documentation of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, and/or fire protection systems across the company’s project portfolio. The position applies substantial technical judgment to develop code-compliant, efficient, and high-quality engineering solutions from concept through construction documents.

This role serves as a technical resource for assigned projects, performs independent design and quality-control activities, and supports the consistent application of company engineering standards.


Position Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced design of HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems, including heating and cooling loads, ventilation calculations, and energy/economic analysis.
  • Select, size, and specify mechanical equipment and lay out mechanical rooms, accounting for constructability, access, and serviceability.
  • Develop production documents in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Prepare and review calculations, control sequences, system diagrams, schedules, details, and technical specifications.
  • Apply applicable building, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and energy codes and standards to project designs.
  • Conduct independent QA/QC reviews of mechanical designs and verify adherence to company technical standards.
  • Track assigned discipline hours and identify potential scope changes early to maintain alignment with project budgets and deliverables.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that increase technical quality and project efficiency.

Technical Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive MEP design experience, including HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, or institutional projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong technical writing and English verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with load simulation software such as EnergyPro, Trane TRACE, or Carrier HAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam and applicable California or Oregon building-code requirements preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and evaluate data, establish facts, and draw valid technical conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fluid environment.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain attention to detail, and consistently meet project deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual compensation: USD $35,000–$47,000, depending on experience and technical qualifications.
  • Work model: Fully remote, full-time opportunity.
  • Paid Time Off: 10 days per year.
  • Paid Holidays: 8 days per year.
  • Sick Leave: 3 days per year.
