Mechanical Engineer

ALMACO in Nevada, IA is seeking entry level Mechanical Engineer or Senior Designer who want to work on a small team, to support peak work load. This position is a temporary, 60 day position, with the opportunity for extension. It has flexible day-shift hours, 30-40 hours per week. Work can be done on-site at ALMACO headquarters in Nevada, IA or off-site but some on-site hours will be necessary. Opportunities in this position: Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Material and manufacturing process specifications using ERP systems. Collaborate with Engineers and cross-functional teams to create or modify detailed designs using SolidWorks. Prepare clear, concise, and accurate documentation required by fabrication and assembly work centers to efficiently manufacture designs using SolidWorks drawings, SoildWorks Composer, and Microsoft PPT/Word/Excel where appropriate. Collaborate with production employees to resolve issues with designs, drawings and assembly instructions to achieve quality and build time goals. Assist with generation of cost estimates to design and manufacture new products for internal and external clients that meet unique requirements. To excel in this position, you have: A high-school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-high-school education or equivalent on-the-job training in mechanical drafting is required. Familiarity with parametric modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and ability to read and interpret schematics, prints, and mechanical drawings is required. Two years of drafting experience with electro-mechanical parts, equipment, or devices is required. Strong organization, attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills. Customer-service orientation and the ability to explain technical information clearly. Comfort learning job-specific software and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Work environment, physical demands, and PPE: Manufacturer environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, loud noise, and mechanical hazards.
