We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Design) in support to our client Fusion for Energy for their location in Barcelona, Spain. The successful candidate will support the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical components and systems, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, manufacturing processes, and reliability requirements. Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: Support internal and outsourced activities related to a complex optomechanical system installed in a vacuum and radiation environment; Support supplier activities to completion by taking ownership of specific technical uncertainties, including completing internal studies if required to support decision making; The project will move from final design to production of a full scale prototype in the next few years, meaning that an important part of the job will involve ensuring continuity between design, procurement, and testing phases. Essential: Bachelors of Engineering in industrial, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, optical, metrology or nuclear engineering (or equivalent); At least 8 years of relevant working experience in the design or manufacturing of optical systems, vacuum systems and/or moving mechanical systems; Experience in definition of technical requirements and system specifications for optical or mechanical components; Experience in follow-up of system design, manufacturing or testing by external suppliers; Experience in the production or assessment of built-to-print documentation; Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU; Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Advantageous: Experience with complex measurement or diagnostic systems ( e.g. , LiDAR, imaging, metrology); Experience with systems operating in challenging environments such as radiation or vacuum; Experience with dry lubricated motion in vacuum; Experience in the manufacturing of complex optical or electromechanical systems; Experience in data analysis and root cause analysis for failures; Experience in the preparation of the detailed design of complex systems; Experience in definition of work packages or contractual activities for at least one of system design, manufacturing, integration and testing; Experience in definition of test protocols and review of test reports for optical or moving mechanical systems.
