Job Title: Mechanical Project Manager Job Description This role focuses on leading and overseeing multiple in-flight mechanical and HVAC projects within a large, complex network. You will step into projects that are already underway, provide strong project management and technical oversight, and help drive successful execution from the front end through completion. The position emphasizes HVAC and MEP systems, sustainability initiatives, site support, and lifecycle HVAC replacements, with the opportunity for remote work and potential long-term engagement. Responsibilities Provide end-to-end project management for multiple mechanical and HVAC projects that are already in progress, ensuring they stay on schedule, within scope, and aligned with defined objectives. Quickly assess the current status of active projects and seamlessly assume leadership midstream, establishing clear priorities, timelines, and deliverables. Oversee HVAC and MEP-related work across a broad network of facilities, maintaining visibility into all HVAC activities and ensuring consistent standards and quality. Act as a subject matter expert for HVAC systems, supporting site teams with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and technical guidance on HVAC performance and reliability. Lead and coordinate sustainability-focused programs related to HVAC and mechanical systems, including energy efficiency initiatives and system optimization projects. Support new construction projects by providing mechanical and HVAC oversight, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring design and installation meet project and operational requirements. Manage end-of-life HVAC replacement projects, including planning, scheduling, coordination with vendors and contractors, and oversight of installation and commissioning. Create and support testing of network-wide HVAC and mechanical rollouts, including pilot programs, standardization of approaches, and scaling successful solutions across multiple sites. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and site teams to align project plans, communicate progress, and address risks or issues proactively. Provide front-end project leadership by defining scopes of work, identifying resource needs, and setting expectations for execution and delivery. Coordinate and track construction management and project coordination activities, ensuring accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with internal processes. Support continuous improvement of project management practices by identifying lessons learned, sharing best practices, and refining processes across the project portfolio. Essential Skills Proven experience in project management with a focus on mechanical and HVAC projects, including the ability to take over projects that are already in progress. Strong HVAC expertise, with the ability to act as a subject matter expert and provide technical oversight and guidance. Mechanical engineering (ME) skills and familiarity with MEP systems in a construction or facilities environment. Experience in a TIPM L6-level or comparable people manager role within an HVAC-focused or mechanical subject matter expert capacity. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and maintain oversight across a broad network of sites. Experience with construction management and project coordination, particularly for HVAC, MEP, and related building systems. Strong organizational and oversight skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex, ongoing projects and drive them to completion. Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, site personnel, and external partners. Comfort with front-end project activities such as scope definition, planning, and early-stage execution leadership. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on large-scale sustainability programs related to HVAC or mechanical systems. Background supporting site operations with HVAC issues, performance improvements, and system reliability initiatives. Experience with new construction projects and end-of-life HVAC replacements within a distributed facilities network. Familiarity with creating and testing network-wide rollouts of HVAC or mechanical solutions. Previous experience in a large, complex organization with multiple facilities and stakeholders. Interest in a role that may extend over multiple years based on performance. Ability to start quickly and adapt rapidly to an existing project portfolio. Work Environment This role offers the flexibility to work fully remote, with a strong preference for candidates located near an office in cities such as Nashville, Austin, Seattle, or New York City, though this is not strictly required. The position involves very limited travel and focuses primarily on remote oversight and coordination of projects across a broad network of sites. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, site personnel, and external partners, leveraging standard project management tools and communication platforms to manage active HVAC, MEP, and construction-related projects. The environment emphasizes sustainability, operational efficiency, and consistent execution across multiple facilities, providing the opportunity to work on long-term initiatives with potential extension based on performance.
