Medical Biller (Allergy & Asthma) | Permanent WFH

This is a full-time remote position responsible for managing claims billing and payment posting functions across the practice. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-sufficient medical biller with allergy and asthma specialty experience who can work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and proof claims prior to submission, including verification of modifiers, diagnosis codes, and code combinations
• Transmit claims electronically to insurance payers
• Identify, correct, and resolve rejected claims, including insurance information discrepancies originating from front-desk registration
• Post electronic remittance advices (ERAs) and review remittances for automatic denials, payment variances, and underpayments
• Investigate and resolve denied claims and initiate appeals when appropriate
• Contact patients to obtain updated insurance information when needed
• Access payer portals to review claim status, resolve rejections, and upload medical records or supporting documentation
• Generate and work monthly aging reports for claims outstanding more than 30 days
• Research and resolve outstanding balances in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all billing activity within patient accounts
• Communicate professionally with patients, insurance companies, and internal staff regarding claim issues and resolutions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Allergy and asthma specialty billing experience
• 3–5 years of medical claims billing experience
• Strong knowledge of Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) payer guidelines
• Proficiency in ERA/EOB posting
• Experience with claim denial resolution and appeals
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage the full billing cycle with minimal
• Organized and highly dependable
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Comfortable working in a small-practice environment
• Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a remote setting
