Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine This role is a key member of the US Medical Affairs Neuroscience Therapeutic Area team, reporting to the Vice President, US Neuroscience Medical Affairs with dotted-line accountability to the US Neuroscience Therapeutic Area Lead. The Medical Director leads medical strategy and integrated evidence planning across schizophrenia, including the Invega portfolio and Caplyta schizophrenia, while advancing aligned scientific strategies through evidence generation, medical education, and dissemination. The role partners closely across US and Global Medical Affairs, RWV&E, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, R&D, Regulatory, Medical Communications, Field Medical, and Commercial teams to address unmet needs and support appropriate use of innovative therapies. Responsibilities: Medical Strategy & Evidence Generation Lead medical strategy and integrated evidence planning for schizophrenia assets, including the Invega portfolio and Caplyta schizophrenia. Identify evidence gaps and drive aligned plans for evidence generation, publication, and scientific dissemination. Serve as a disease-state and asset expert, ensuring scientific strategy reflects current standards of care and unmet needs. Medical Affairs Studies & Scientific Leadership Provide medical leadership for Medical Affairs-sponsored studies, including study design, protocol development, data interpretation, and publication planning. Partner with RWV&E, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, R&D, and other teams to advance evidence priorities. Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) Evaluate, prioritize, and champion IIS proposals aligned to strategic evidence gaps. Monitor funded IIS programs for progress, milestones, and scientific impact. Scientific Exchange & Medical Education Lead scientific engagement, advisory board, and medical education strategies aligned to stakeholder needs. Partner with Medical Communications, Scientific Exchange, and Field Medical teams to develop and deliver high-quality scientific content. Build relationships with external experts and gather insights to inform medical strategy and future research. Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate across Medical Affairs, Field Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Safety, and Global partners. Provide medical review, strategic input, and scientific leadership for materials, governance forums, access discussions, regulatory activities, and emerging data interpretation. Requirements: MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or DNP degree required. Minimum of 8-10 years of healthcare-related experience (clinical practice, academic research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, or related settings). Medical Affairs experience preferred. Experience in schizophrenia, psychiatry, neuroscience, or other CNS therapeutic areas preferred. Demonstrated experience in clinical trial design, evidence generation, real-world evidence, outcomes research, or clinical development preferred. Experience engaging healthcare professionals, investigators, and key opinion leaders preferred. Strong scientific and clinical data interpretation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including scientific presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority in a matrix environment. Strong strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and project management capabilities. Proven track record of driving execution and delivering results in complex organizations. Other Up to 20% travel (primarily domestic, with limited international) is required. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
