Job Summary:

The Medical Scribe is responsible in supporting healthcare providers by documenting patient encounters in real time during telemedicine visits, ensuring accurate and complete medical records. This role also maintains compliance with HIPAA standards while assisting with coordination, follow-ups, and ophthalmology-specific documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Attends virtual telemedicine appointments and documents medical histories, chief complaints, exams, assessments, diagnostic findings, and treatment plans in EMR systems.

• Maintains accurate ophthalmology documentation including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit lamp findings, and retinal evaluations.

• Updates and manages electronic medical records (EMRs) in real time to ensure completeness and compliance.

• Assists providers in sending prescriptions and communicating updates to pharmacies and referral optometrists.

• Coordinates with front desk teams to schedule follow-ups, surgeries, and additional testing based on provider recommendations.

• Facilitates communication between providers and patients to improve clarity and continuity of care.

• Ensures documentation accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to HIPAA regulations.

• Works independently in a remote setting while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

• Adapts to varying provider schedules across time zones.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.

• At least two (2) years’ experience as a medical scribe or in a healthcare documentation

role.

• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

• Minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.

• Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology, including common ophthalmology

procedures.

• Experience in Ophthalmic is a plus.
