WHO YOU ARE As the Member Experience Coordinator you will support AGU’s ability to discover, design, and deliver strong member experiences across the global membership community. This role contributes to research and insight generation, experience design, and delivery support to help AGU better understand member needs and translate those needs into meaningful programs, services, and engagement opportunities. This role supports the development and growth of AGU’s global membership community, including helping research, shape, implement, and scale membership experiences that foster scientific peer learning, collaboration, and impact. Through this work, the Coordinator helps bring AGU’s mission to life by strengthening how scientists connect with one another, grow in their careers, and engage with the broader scientific community. This position works closely with the Member Experience team and cross-functional partners to support pilot efforts, gather feedback, coordinate implementation activities, and prepare successful solutions for broader adoption and scale. WHAT YOU WILL DO Member Discovery, Research & Insight Generation Support and run research activities such as surveys, user interviews, focus groups, feedback review, and environmental scanning to better understand member needs, motivations, barriers, and opportunities across the member journey Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear insights, themes, and opportunity areas Help develop summaries, journey observations, and other materials that inform team decisions and experience priorities Support feedback loops that ensure member voices help shape AGU’s work Experience Design & Concept Development Support the translation of member insights into early-stage experience concepts, service improvements, community engagement ideas, and pilot initiatives Contribute to design artifacts such as member need summaries, journey maps, pilot outlines, and concept recommendations Participate in and run co-design sessions and collaborative working meetings with internal stakeholders and members Help ensure proposed solutions reflect member needs, accessibility, inclusivity, and AGU’s mission and brand Global Membership Community & Experience Support Support the research, design, and delivery of AGU’s global membership community experience—including AGU Circles, an innovative peer learning and non-traditional mentoring network—with attention to how members connect, learn, collaborate, and contribute across career stages, disciplines, geographies Help coordinate and support initiatives intended to strengthen scientific learning, collaboration, professional connection, and impact Assist with implementation activities for groups and related community pilots, including participant communication, logistics, tracking, and feedback collection Contribute to documenting lessons learned and identifying what is needed to strengthen, expand, or scale successful community-building approaches Pilot Delivery, Learning & Continuous Improvement Help coordinate early-stage pilots and experiments, including timelines, stakeholder communication, and follow-up activities Support definition of pilot goals, success indicators, and learning questions Gather and organize feedback and performance information to help the team evaluate results and refine future work Maintain documentation of findings, learnings, and recommendations to inform broader delivery and scaling decisions Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Member Experience, Program Operations, Marketing/Communications, Digital/Technology, and other AGU teams to support aligned planning and execution Help connect member insights with program and delivery needs, ensuring smooth coordination across teams Provide operational and coordination support to Member initiatives as neede Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification. WHAT YOU WILL BRING 1 to 3+ years of experience in customer/member experience and user research, as well as program coordination, community engagement, innovation, or a related field Foundational working knowledge in user research, experience design, and service design Proven ability and interest in understanding user or member needs and translating insight into better experiences, programs, or services—with an eye for design Organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and follow-up items Ability to gather, organize, and synthesize information into clear observations, themes, and recommendations Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt in an evolving environment or to emerging business or member needs Comfort with experimentation, iteration, and test-and-learn approaches Interest in community-building, member engagement, and designing experiences that support learning, connection, and impact Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to grow in experience design, innovation, and customer/member-centered work AGU ESSENTIAL VALUES Accountability: Own it.
