Member of Technical Staff Level 1 – Engineering Bellevue | Hybrid NTT DATA AIVista, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT DATA, is based in Silicon Valley. We develop AI products that operationalize AI across enterprises operating in complex regulatory environments. We partner with other NTT companies (NTT DATA Inc., NTT DATA Japan, and NTT Docomo) to ensure successful deployment to NTT clients. Our clients benefit from AIVista's deep AI product expertise combined with the industry domain knowledge and systems integration experience of NTT DATA. Role Description This role is intended for engineers who have built and launched AI products in production environments, not solely implemented or integrated third-party AI tools. The Member of Technical Staff role involves designing, developing, and deploying AI capabilities, including agentic infrastructure, model customization, and agentic workflows for some of the world's largest enterprises. This role requires exceptional software engineering expertise and hands-on experience building scalable AI systems that operate in production environments. You will work closely with engineering, science, product, and customer teams to deliver AI capabilities that solve complex business problems within highly regulated industries. Successful candidates will be comfortable operating across the full lifecycle of AI product development, from technical design and implementation through deployment, optimization, and production support. This is a highly hands-on engineering role. We are seeking engineers who have directly designed, built, launched, and operated AI products and platforms in production environments. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of developing AI systems that deliver measurable business value and customer impact at scale. Experience building AI platforms, infrastructure, models, agentic systems, or AI-powered products is required. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to consuming, integrating, configuring, or prompting third-party AI services without significant ownership of the underlying systems are unlikely to be successful in this role. Qualifications • Undergraduate in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Master's or PhD degree preferred. • Demonstrated hands-on industry experience delivering complex work independently in the design, building, deploying, and operating production AI systems used by enterprise customers. • Proven experience in the development and launch of AI-powered products, platforms, or capabilities that achieved meaningful customer adoption, business impact, or industry recognition, including experience building scalable, maintainable, and production-ready systems. Must have sound technical judgment that colleagues can rely upon. • Experience building core AI platforms, infrastructure, agentic systems, model customization pipelines, or large-scale AI applications, rather than solely consuming or integrating third-party AI products and services. • Hands-on expertise with modern AI technologies, including at least four of the following : o Agentic systems and agent orchestration o Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) o Model customization, tuning, and optimization o Large Language Models (LLMs) o AI infrastructure and inference systems o Data processing and knowledge pipelines o Agent protocols and multi-agent architectures • Demonstrated ability to make architectural and implementation decisions that balance performance, scalability, reliability, cost, and customer requirements. • Experience troubleshooting, optimizing, and operating complex AI systems in production environments. • Demonstrated understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP), modern AI application architectures, and large-scale distributed systems. • Experience deploying and operating AI workloads on cloud platforms. • Proven ability to translate advanced AI techniques into practical customer-facing solutions. • Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical discussions, conducting design reviews, or influencing technical direction across teams. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills. Benefits · Medical, dental, and vision insurance · 401(k) plan · Significant Company HSA contribution · Paid holidays and flexible PTO The estimated annual salary range for this role is $300,000–$350,000 USD. The salary for the successful applicant will depend on job-related factors such as education, training, work experience, business needs, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future. Total compensation also includes variable pay in the form of an annual target bonus and other cash incentives, with a combined potential of up to 100% of base salary.
