As a KYB Analyst at Breeze, you'll play a critical role in protecting our platform by ensuring every business we onboard meets our compliance and risk standards. This is a highly analytical and investigative role focused on conducting Know Your Business (KYB) reviews, validating merchant information, and identifying financial crime, fraud, and reputational risks before merchants begin processing payments. You'll partner closely with our Compliance, Underwriting, Risk, and Operations teams to build a complete picture of every merchant we onboard. Using public records, third-party intelligence, open-source research, and industry expertise, you'll help ensure we're making informed onboarding decisions while maintaining a fast and seamless merchant experience. We're looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced fintech environments, enjoys investigating complex businesses, and has a strong understanding of payments, merchant risk, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and enjoys connecting information across multiple sources to uncover potential risks. What You'll Do Conduct end-to-end KYB reviews for prospective merchants, ensuring all onboarding documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant. Review and verify business registration documents, Articles of Incorporation, EIN and Tax ID documentation, proof of address, and other supporting corporate records. Identify and verify Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs), including ownership structures, sanctions screening, OFAC, EU and UN watchlist screening, and Politically Exposed Person (PEP) checks. Perform adverse media, reputation, and open-source investigations across businesses, founders, and key personnel to identify potential regulatory, financial crime, or reputational concerns. Review customer sentiment across Trustpilot, BBB, Reddit, Discord, X, and other public sources to identify operational or reputational risks not captured through formal documentation. Evaluate merchant business models to identify indicators of payment facilitation, nested merchants, undisclosed third-party fund movement, or other prohibited activities. Review chargeback history, prior processor relationships, fraud indicators, and participation in card network monitoring programs where applicable. Cross-reference G2 Risk Solutions and other third-party intelligence platforms against internal findings, investigating and documenting any discrepancies. Prepare thorough case documentation and escalate complex or high-risk findings to Underwriting, Compliance, or Legal teams for further review. Prepare and maintain monthly merchant reporting for partners including Worldpay and PPRO. Continuously improve KYB workflows, documentation standards, and operational processes as Breeze continues to scale. What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in KYB, KYC, AML, merchant onboarding, payments compliance, fraud investigations, or financial crime. Experience working within a fintech, payment processor, PSP, Merchant of Record, acquiring bank, or other regulated financial services environment. Strong experience conducting business verification, UBO validation, sanctions screening, adverse media reviews, and enhanced due diligence. Excellent investigative and research skills with experience using corporate registries, public records, and open-source intelligence. Ability to review multiple document types including corporate filings, legal documents, bank statements, business websites, and financial records while identifying inconsistencies and potential risk signals. Strong understanding of merchant risk, payment flows, and common fraud typologies across card payments and digital commerce. Comfortable operating with incomplete information, exercising sound judgment, and escalating uncertainty or complex findings appropriately. Exceptional attention to detail with strong written documentation and case management skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present findings to cross-functional stakeholders. Experience reviewing high-risk merchant categories such as gaming, sweepstakes, digital goods, subscription businesses, marketplaces, or similar industries is a strong plus. Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard merchant onboarding requirements, MCC classifications, and chargeback monitoring programs is a plus. Experience with KYB platforms such as Persona and risk intelligence platforms including G2 Risk Solutions is a plus.
