This role involves close collaboration with cyber, networking, DevSecOps, and application teams to ensure secure, resilient, and scalable cloud operations. Key Responsibilities • Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain Azure services within a DoD IL5 environment • Implement cloud security controls aligned to DoD, DISA SRG, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust principles • Manage Azure resources including VMs, App Services, AKS, Azure SQL, Storage, VNets, Firewalls, and Private Endpoints • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM • Strong experience with Identity & Security (Entra, RBAC, Conditional Access, Key Vault) • Monitor performance, optimize system reliability, and troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues • Support cloud migration activities, including assessments, planning, and execution • Maintain and update cloud environment documentation, diagrams, and SOPs • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines, automation, and container orchestration • Provide Tier III engineering support and participate in on-call rotation as needed • Ensure compliance with DoD IL5 requirements, RMF packages, and continuous ATO sustainment activities • Cost management: Integrate cost monitor, Cost metrics • Storage: Ensure Azure Lifecycle policy for storing cloud storage needs Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud engineering • Experience operating within DoD Cloud (IL4/IL5/IL6) or other federal regulated environments • Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity, and security architectures • Proficiency with PowerShell and at least one IaC tool (Biceps preferred) • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel, Defender for Cloud • Knowledge of RMF, DISA STIGs, and compliance-driven cloud operations • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, CCSP) Key Competencies • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical mindset • Ability to work independently and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams • Excellent communication and documentation skills • Commitment to maintaining security-first cloud operations Skills Azure, Cloud, federal regulations, powershell, python automation, kubernetes Top Skills Details Azure,Cloud,federal regulations,powershell Additional Skills & Qualifications • Preferred Qualifications • Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-700, or similar) • Experience with Kubernetes (AKS), containers, and DevSecOps pipelines • Knowledge of enterprise Zero Trust architectures and implementation patterns • Familiarity with cross-domain solutions, hybrid cloud, or on-prem to cloud bridging • Experience supporting distributed DoD program teams • Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning: Experience with tools like Azure Site Recovery (ASR) and Azure Backup to ensure operational continuity. • Azure Governance: Proficiency with Azure Policy and Azure Blueprints is essential for enforcing security and compliance rules at scale across the environment. • Advanced Networking: Experience with Azure Virtual WAN (vWAN), ExpressRoute for hybrid connectivity, and sophisticated traffic management services like Azure Application Gateway and Azure Front Door. • Database and Data Management: Experience with Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, or knowledge of NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB, depending on the applications being supported. • Specific Scripting/Automation Languages: Python as a required or preferred skill for automation tasks would align with current DevSecOps practices Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
