Job Title: MuleSoft Architect / Lead Developer – Mainframe Transformation Job Type: Contract – 12 Months Location: 100% Remote – USA Start Date: September 16, 2026 Experience: 14–15+ Years Visa Eligibility: USC, GC, or GC EAD Certification: Active MuleSoft advanced certification required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced MuleSoft Architect / Lead Developer with 14–15+ years of overall IT experience and strong expertise in MuleSoft architecture, API development, enterprise integration, and legacy/mainframe transformation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, developing, securing, deploying, and managing large-scale MuleSoft integrations and APIs. This individual will serve as a technical subject matter expert, provide architectural guidance, mentor development teams, and collaborate with technical stakeholders throughout the application development lifecycle. Experience with legacy modernization and integration involving technologies such as COBOL, Java, Salesforce, C#/.NET Core, Oracle, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Lead MuleSoft architecture, development, customization, configuration, and integration initiatives. Design and implement secure, scalable, and reusable APIs and integration solutions. Provide architectural oversight for MuleSoft platform deployment and configuration. Develop and maintain MuleSoft applications using Anypoint Studio, Mule 4, and CloudHub . Design and implement RESTful and SOAP-based web services. Develop and maintain integration flows using MuleSoft connectors and advanced messaging patterns. Work with synchronous and asynchronous messaging, streaming, routing, and event-driven integration patterns. Design reusable system APIs, connectors, code assets, error-handling frameworks, logging, caching, and other shared components. Provide guidance on API governance, security, authentication, authorization, and platform best practices. Participate in the complete API lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, governance, and management. Perform performance tuning, debugging, troubleshooting, and resolution of production and development issues. Review technical designs, implementations, diagrams, development standards, and documentation. Collaborate with internal technical teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and other project resources. Lead technical requirements gathering, solution design, and implementation activities. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to MuleSoft development teams. Support legacy modernization and data transformation initiatives. Ensure solutions comply with security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy requirements. Assist with deployment and automation pipelines and recommend improvements to development and deployment processes. Provide technical support for break/fix issues and production incidents. Develop technical documentation, implementation procedures, process diagrams, and data-flow diagrams. Required Qualifications 14–15+ years of overall IT experience , with significant experience as a MuleSoft Architect or Lead Developer. Strong experience developing and testing RESTful and SOAP APIs . Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and its major components, including: Anypoint Exchange Anypoint Design Center Anypoint API Manager Anypoint Runtime Manager Anypoint Studio Access Management Data Gateway Strong hands-on experience with DataWeave 2.0 . Experience developing applications using Mule 4 and CloudHub . Practical experience implementing MuleSoft as an ESB and deployment platform . Experience with the complete API development lifecycle, from design and development through governance and management. Experience designing secure and scalable enterprise APIs. Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC, identity management, authorization, tokenization, and IDaaS integration . Experience with enterprise integration involving technologies such as Java, Salesforce, C#/.NET Core, Oracle, and GoAnywhere . Experience leading MuleSoft technical teams, including mentoring and coaching team members. Experience with legacy modernization or transformation projects involving migration from legacy systems to modern platforms. Experience defining non-functional requirements, SLAs, scalability, and performance standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Data Processing, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Active MuleSoft advanced certification required, such as: MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect – Level 1 MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect Similar advanced MuleSoft certification Preferred Qualifications Experience with MuleSoft Database, File, and Sockets Connectors . Experience with Salesforce, Amazon S3, and Snowflake Connectors . Experience with advanced synchronous/asynchronous messaging, streaming, and flow routing. Knowledge of microservices, MVC design patterns, and SOLID principles . Experience working with JSON, XML, HTML, RAML, and WSDL . Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL Server . Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and experience with Snowflake. Experience creating microservice APIs for Salesforce or Snowflake integrations . Experience working with or overseeing a MuleSoft Center for Enablement (C4E) . Experience with enterprise-scale MuleSoft implementations. Experience with performance optimization across services and consuming applications. Experience with sandbox environments and deployment best practices. Experience providing technical architecture guidance aligned with broader technology strategies and product roadmaps. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on MuleSoft Architect / Lead Developer who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership abilities. You should be comfortable working on complex enterprise integrations, modernizing legacy systems, defining API strategies, troubleshooting production issues, and guiding development teams toward scalable and secure solutions.
