Is this job info correct?

A confidential plaintiff-side litigation practice is seeking a midlevel Employment Litigation Associate to support high-stakes wage and hour matters, including class and collective actions. This role is well suited to an attorney who enjoys motion practice, discovery strategy, and building cases alongside senior trial lawyers, with opportunities to contribute to filings and litigation strategy across multiple jurisdictions.

WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY STANDS OUT

  • Plaintiff-side employment litigation focused on wage and hour and related statutory claims.
  • Exposure to complex litigation, including class and collective actions.
  • Meaningful responsibility supporting senior trial attorneys through key litigation milestones.
  • Opportunity to assist with multi-jurisdiction case activity (where needed by the matters).
  • Performance emphasis tied to leadership, soft skills, and case progression rather than billable hour targets.

THE ROLE

  • Support prosecution of wage and hour cases, including misclassification, meal and rest break claims, off-the-clock work, expense reimbursement disputes, PAGA claims, and FLSA claims.
  • Draft and revise pleadings, written discovery, and discovery responses.
  • Own key aspects of motion practice, including legal research and persuasive briefing.
  • Assist with deposition preparation and participation, including witness preparation and exhibit organization.
  • Support case strategy, evidence development, and trial preparation in coordination with senior litigators.
  • Help manage litigation deadlines and filings across state and federal matters.

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location:

California (Northern California).

Schedule:

Hybrid, with an in-office expectation of 3 days per week (some flexibility for remote work depending on the candidate).

Compensation:

$180,000 to $220,000 base salary (depending on experience and writing strength).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar license (required).
  • 6 to 10 years of plaintiff-side employment litigation experience.
  • Substantial wage and hour experience, including misclassification, meal and rest break violations, expense reimbursement, off-the-clock work, PAGA claims, and FLSA claims.
  • Demonstrated ability to support senior trial attorneys and drive matters forward.
  • Strong legal writing skills; writing samples requested (two preferred).

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

  • Experience assisting with nationwide or multi-state filings (for example, New York, New Jersey, Washington, or Illinois).
  • Leadership potential and interest in growing within a plaintiff-side litigation team.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Bonus structure tied to soft skills, leadership, and case progression (not billable hours).
  • Billable hours are not the primary performance metric; timekeeping is tracked with an expectation of approximately 8 hours logged daily with a flexible mix.
  • Merit-based path to partnership.
