Salary Range: $17.50 To $18.00 Hourly Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy organization urging U.S. decision makers to do all they can to pursue a world without hunger. Our mission is to educate and equip people to advocate for policies and programs that can help end hunger in the U.S. and around the world. The Karen Sue Smith and Rose DiMartino Internship Program enables you to contribute your efforts to this mission while benefiting from opportunities for supervised learning, personal development, and gain work experience. DEPARTMENT: Organizing and Faith Engagement (ORG/FE) REPORTS TO: Next Gen Strategist SEMESTER: Fall (Sept. - Dec. 2026) SCHEDULE: Part Time: 15 hours per week APPLY BY: Sept. 4th, 2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The next gen organizing intern will help build and mobilize a nationwide (and local) network of students through outreach and recruitment, supporting leadership development programs, coordinating events, and helping students take action on federal and state policy priorities. In general, the main projects for the next gen organizing intern include: Support national and local organizing efforts by recruiting and engaging students and young adults in advocacy campaigns and events. Research and build relationships with student groups, faculty, chaplains, and community partners to grow Bread for the World's NextGen network. Help plan and coordinate campus events, such as film screenings, discussions, and advocacy activities. Connect students to trainings and leadership opportunities and support the development of Student Leadership Teams on campus Work on additional projects as requested. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Passion for social justice, advocacy, and ending hunger and poverty. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Interest in organizing, leadership development, or public policy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. Experience with or willingness to learn outreach, event planning, and social media engagement. Current college student or recent graduate preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT ISSUES: This internship can be based in Washington, DC or remote in PA. Bread is a hybrid organization.
