Company Description Wendi Foundation is a Uganda-based non-profit organization focused on empowering individuals to drive sustainable national development. Established in 2013, Wendi equips people with skills, knowledge, and opportunities to become effective leaders and agents of change in their communities. The foundation’s work centers on education, vocational training, leadership development, and community engagement to build capacity and promote social cohesion. Wendi also advocates for policies and initiatives that create opportunities for nation-builders and support equitable, long-term prosperity across Uganda. Team members join a mission-driven organization that values empowerment, collaboration, and transformative impact.

Role Description The NGO Adviser is a full-time remote role responsible for providing strategic guidance and operational support to Wendi Foundation’s programs and partnerships. In this role, the adviser collaborates with leadership and program teams to design, review, and strengthen initiatives in education, skills development, leadership, and community engagement. Day-to-day tasks include advising on program planning and implementation, supporting grant proposals and donor reports, and helping to align projects with Wendi’s mission, vision, and advocacy goals. The adviser conducts research on best practices in nonprofit management and nation-building, develops recommendations to improve impact and sustainability, and facilitates knowledge sharing across the organization. This position also involves engaging with partner organizations, stakeholders, and community representatives to support effective collaboration and transparent communication.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in research, analysis, and strategic planning to assess programs and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals.
  • Proficiency in project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting to donors or stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear proposals, briefs, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural environment with strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of nation-building, community empowerment, and policy advocacy in the context of developing countries; familiarity with the Ugandan context is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Education, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are an added benefit.
  • Commitment to gender-neutral, inclusive, and non-discriminatory practices, and alignment with Wendi Foundation’s mission and values.
