The role As a NOC Engineer, you'll play a critical role in helping keep Vector Fibre's network running at its best. You'll be the first point of response for network alarms, incidents and customer issues, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting faults, managing service activations and supporting the delivery of reliable telecommunications services to our customers. Working closely with our Sales, Service Delivery, Network Specialist and Architecture teams, you'll help maintain the performance and availability of the infrastructure that underpins our fibre network. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in networking. The NOC is recognised as the entry point into Vector Fibre's specialist networking career pathway, with opportunities to progress into the Network Specialist Team and ultimately Network Architect roles. You'll be supported by a structured onboarding programme, hands-on training, shadowing opportunities and a team that is committed to helping you grow your technical capability and confidence. You'll join a collaborative team that values ownership, accountability and teamwork. While you'll have the support of experienced colleagues around you, you'll be trusted to take responsibility for issues, see them through to resolution, and contribute to maintaining the availability and performance of critical telecommunications infrastructure. Please note: this role participates in an on-call roster, providing support when network incidents occur outside normal business hours. You will be paid an on-call allowance when rostered. Who are we looking for? Previous experience working in a Network Operations Centre (NOC), telecommunications, fibre, ISP or network service provider environment, together with at least 2 years' NOC experience and exposure to networking technologies CCNA or an equivalent industry certification, along with a solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals. Experience with technologies such as MPLS, Segment Routing, L2VPN/L3VPN services, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and Optical Transport Networks (OTN) will be highly regarded Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective when responding to network incidents and service outages Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to work with customers and collaborate across multiple technical and business teams A proactive, accountable and team-oriented approach.
