Job Summary : The NOC Specialist is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and escalating events and performance issues that may affect the systems and services. This role involves working closely with the operations team to ensure high availability and performance of the services. Key Responsibilities : Monitor Systems/Services Performance, Identify Anomalies, and Report System Alarms and Alerts: Continuously monitor the operational status and performance of services using specialized software tools. Detect and document anomalies in service behavior, including unusual traffic patterns and Initiate immediate alert protocols when potential issues are detected, ensuring that all significant alarms are escalated to the appropriate technical staff or management levels without delay. Perform Initial Analysis of the Situation, Categorize Issues Based on Severity, and Escalate to Appropriate Teams for Further Resolution: Conduct a preliminary assessment of the service issue to determine its impact and urgency. Classify incidents into severity levels (e.g., critical, high, medium, low) based on predefined criteria such as impact on business, scope of the issue, and potential for escalation. Route the issues to the respective operational teams or specialists who are equipped to handle the specific type and severity of the problem, providing them with initial findings and any relevant analysis to aid in resolution. Keep Track of Ongoing Incidents Until Resolution and Perform Follow-Ups with Respective Teams to Ensure Closure: Maintain a log of all incidents from initiation to resolution, monitoring the progress of each case and intervening when delays occur. Regularly communicate with technical teams to get updates and push for timely resolution of issues, ensuring that all actions are documented and stakeholders are informed. Verify that all resolved incidents are thoroughly documented, with detailed reports on the cause, solution, and preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. Maintain and Update Incident Logs and Documentation: Ensure that all incident data is accurately recorded in the NOC's management systems, including time stamps, severity ratings, actions taken, and resolution details. Update operational documentation and system records to reflect new findings, solutions, and standard operating procedures as they evolve. Assist in the creation and maintenance of a knowledge base to help in quick resolution of future issues based on past incidents and solutions. Support the Operations Team by Providing Timely Information About Events and Potential Impacts: Act as the primary information hub during incidents, providing real-time data and updates to the operations team to assist in decision-making and strategic responses. Prepare regular reports summarizing events, trends, and potential risks, offering insights that can help in proactive management and contingency planning. Operate Across Different Time Zones to Provide 24/7 Support and Ensure Continuity of Service: Work in shifts organized to cover all time zones, ensuring continuous monitoring and response capabilities regardless of local times. Coordinate with NOC personnel in different geographical regions to ensure a seamless handover of monitoring duties and ongoing incidents, maintaining a global perspective on network health. Participate in training and briefing sessions to stay updated on global operational practices and changes in service management protocols. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field. At least 1-2 years of experience in a NOC or similar monitoring environment. Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols. Experience with monitoring tools and incident tracking systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work in shifts covering 24/7 operations, in alignment with the "follow the sun" model.
