Apply Job Type Full-time Description The Northeast Regional Director (RD) is part of the Moving Traditions Partnership Team. Regional Directors are responsible for using sales strategies to engage new and existing Moving Traditions partners (synagogues, JCCs, summer camps, etc.) in using our 5-12 grade curricular programs to serve their adolescents and parents. The RD provides ongoing support and guidance to all partners in their region through building relationships. This position plays a key role in Moving Traditions’ goal of expanding our reach to impact more Jewish youth, their parents and the educators and teen engagement staff who work with them. The ideal candidate for this position is an educator that has an entrepreneurial spirit, an established Jewish communal network in the Northeast region, excellent communication skills and follow through, and a strong commitment to the Moving Traditions mission. A passion for facilitation, public speaking and presentations is also essential as regional staff are called on to facilitate our curriculum and represent our organization both locally and nationally. While this is a remote position, Regional Directors must reside in the region they manage, and will be expected to attend in person meetings, conferences and facilitate educational opportunities and events throughout the year. We are seeking candidates located in the New York City or the Boston metro area. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY Moving Traditions is a nonprofit organization that helps Jewish teens discover who they are and who they want to be. Founded in 2005, Moving Traditions has supported more than 48,500 Jewish youth across North America by partnering with 800+ institutions. Moving Traditions has three core approaches. Moving Traditions’ Curricular Programs are educational experiences that bring Jewish youth together in classrooms, camps, or other Jewish institutions – with training and ongoing partner support. Our Immersive Teen Experiences help Jewish high schoolers pursue identity and belonging through mentorship, intersectional feminism, and social justice. For those seeking to understand what Jewish teens need today, we offer a variety of Community Learning resources and events. Moving Traditions uniquely brings both expertise in Jewish tradition and a deep understanding of youth identity formation. Learn more at MovingTraditions.org. Requirements Manage and build relationships with a portfolio of over 60 partner institutions in the Northeast region. This includes maintaining current partners, recruiting new partners through networking, research and outreach; ensuring that partners understand our educational goals and implement the programs with fidelity to our model. Serve as lead regional staff person responsible for meeting organizational goals to engage more Jewish pre-teens and teens through all Moving Traditions programs. Collaborate with national leadership to develop and promote a regional vision for Moving Traditions’ work consistent with our strategic plan. Contribute to regional community of practice in Jewish youth professional and Jewish education networks. Support Moving Traditions’ regional development efforts in the region in collaboration with national fundraising efforts. Work with national staff to build relationships with area federations and foundations; support grant proposals and report writing. In consultation with national staff, help to identify and vet professional and lay educators to facilitate the programs. Collaborates cross-functionally with the Development team on grant activities, the Communications team on webinars and outreach, and the Program team to align curriculum with partner needs. Support piloting and implementation of new programming. Analyze local trends and follow local research on Jewish teen life, gender, and Jewish communal work to benefit local and national work, and leverage organization-wide learning and data to benefit work in region. Represent Moving Traditions at regional conferences, workshops and networking venues. Participate in sharing best practices and programmatic insights with colleagues across the country, including those in parallel roles in other regions. Ensure that CRM is up to date, to track, report on, and manage development and program functions. Provide guidance to program team concerning regional engagement and issues. Potential to run a local program or do other direct teaching/engagement. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED Embrace Moving Traditions’ mission 5+ years experience in Jewish communal service, education, or program planning Strong interpersonal communications and relationship building skills, with a record of building and sustaining professional relationships with individuals and within teams Strong writing skills. Ability to work independently and remotely with colleagues, at a fast pace Ability to travel throughout the region to meet with program partners, and other constituents Ability to attend and support Moving Traditions educational events, which can occur on Sundays or in the evenings Sound judgment in setting, reviewing, and confirming priorities Capacity to lead projects, with excellent planning, problem solving, and follow-through Strong attention to detail and investment in data quality Understands and values feminism and diversity, equity, justice and inclusion Knowledge of Jewish life and a strong Jewish network Experience with Salesforce or other data-tracking system a plus Previous experience with Moving Traditions’ programs is a plus Ideal candidate lives in greater NYC area or Boston, MA COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Compensation at Moving Traditions is determined based on the salary band for the role. The salary range for this role is $77,000 - $82,000, yearly. Benefits package includes paid time off for vacation and Jewish and major national holidays, 100% paid medical benefits for employee including dental/vision, STD/Life insurance, and FSA. In addition, employees that have been with Moving Traditions for at least a year are eligible for paid parental leave and a 401K employer contribution. APPLICATION PROCESS The process for the hired applicant will include the following steps: Submission of a Cover Letter & Resume. Applicants moved forward will have a phone screening with a member of Moving Traditions HR Team. Applicants that move forward from the screening interview will have a first-round interview with the Hiring Manager/Team Lead. The final round interview will be with additional members of the team, including the CEO. Three professional references will be requested at the end of the interview process.
