Estimated Appointment End Date (Continuous if Blank) Full/Part-Time Full time Job Type Regular Compensation Annual Salary: $70,000 Job Description Basic Purpose Positions in this job family are involved in performing professional geological, hydrological and/or engineering duties during review of disposal and injection well applications in the Department of Underground Injection Control (UIC). This includes well log analysis, pressure differential calculations, historical record searches and review of supplemental documents submitted with the applications. Typical Functions Review recent and historic documents to identify the presence of potential problem wells in the area of review of a proposed UIC well location. Review water sample analysis, public notices and other submittals for completeness and compliance with Commission rules Interpret open hole and cased hole well logs to determine cement and casing integrity and formation characteristics Ensure well bore construction and proposed injection parameters are compliant with Commission rules. Interpret state and federal laws and Commission rules for staff, industry personnel and the public. Prepare geological, hydrological, and engineering reports; review technical information and exhibits used in Commission hearings; and testifies at Commission hearings as an expert witness. Level Descriptor This is the basic level of this job family where employees are assigned routine entry-level work in a training status to build their skills in reviewing geological, hydrological, and engineering information in review of disposal / injection well applications. In this role they will assist with complex review and evaluation and may assist in preparing or reviewing exhibits and information for Commission hearings. Education and Experience Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, engineering, or a closely related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge, skills, and abilities required at this level include knowledge of current geological, hydrological, and engineering principles and practices related to disposal of saltwater and oil and gas exploration. Ability is required to analyze geological and hydrological maps and reports; to interpret engineering data and reports; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Additional Job Description The work location will be in the Oklahoma City office of the Corporation Commission. Core work hours for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission are Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. This position is not remote work eligible.
