Role: Operations Manager
Kupperman Companies is a commercial real estate development and investment firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana, that specializes in acquiring, developing, and investing in commercial real estate assets, with a particular focus on hotels, multi-family, mixed-use, and retail assets.
We seek an experienced Operations Manager with a background in Real Estate. The ideal candidate flourishes in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment and possesses a high level of initiative and independence in performing the responsibilities of the role to drive results. You should be self-motivated & very organized with an ability to work independently & meet tight deadlines, as well as interact with tenants and vendors in a professional manner.
Your Mission
You’ll be the company lead for all things operations. Your job is to oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of our real estate portfolio and organization. This is a “Swiss-army-knife” role where you will get exposure to a variety of functions in a fast-paced environment, including property management, property operations, company operations, and transaction experience.
Job Duties:
Property & vendor operations
● Oversee day-to-day operations across the portfolio.
● Manage relationships with vendors and contractors.
● Oversee capital expenditure work to ensure quality standards are maintained.
● Maintain clear and effective communication with tenants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Project coordination
● Support the project manager in executing the business plan for active projects.
● Track multiple projects simultaneously with external partners, vendors, and tenants, identifying and escalating issues.
● Define project tasks and resource requirements, and direct resources to meet deadlines.
● Track project deliverables and present progress reports, including problems and proposed solutions.
● Implement and maintain operational checklists and procedures established by leadership; flag gaps or improvement opportunities.
Executive & administrative support
● Provide direction and coordination to the team via weekly meetings and other means.
● Provide administrative and operations support to team members.
● Work closely with the CEO, providing diversified administrative support.
Cross-functional / ad hoc
● Serve as the flexible operational resource for the company, taking on cross-functional and ad hoc tasks across accounting, development, and asset management support as needed.
● Provide backup administrative support to the Controller and Financial Analyst during peak periods (e.g., document collection, data entry, vendor follow-up).
Education & Qualifications
● Fluent in English.
● Sharp attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
● Professional, service-oriented approach with tenants, vendors, and internal team members.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills across internal and external audiences.
● Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, frequently shifting environment; adaptable and resourceful.
Experience:
● Prior experience in real estate industry required; experience at a real estate development, investment, or asset management firm strongly preferred.
● Prior experience as a project manager, property manager, or in a similar operations role with direct exposure to business plan execution preferred.
● 5+ years of experience in real estate, lending, or a related industry.
● 4+ years of experience in administration and/or operations, including direct support to senior leadership (e.g., CEO, principal, or executive team).
● Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment on operational matters and escalate appropriately when a decision exceeds the role’s scope.
● Strong ability to multitask across competing priorities.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
