Job Description - Ophthalmic Technical Assistant - USFTGP Ophthalmology (260001FD) Job Description Ophthalmic Technical Assistant - USFTGP Ophthalmology - ( 260001FD ) Description Work with ophthalmologists to assist during eye surgery and setting up and performing maintenance on equipment. In addition, ophthalmology technologists often perform diagnostic testing, including measuring a patient's vision. Technologists in this career field must be familiar with ophthalmic pharmacology and understand the use of corrective lenses. Essential Functions: Meets with patients to discuss ocular medical history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies and family history to prepare the patient for the physician Performs initial work up including visual testing, color vision testing, retinoscopy, and refraction for the physician to review and consider during visit Performs various diagnostic tests and measurements including A-Scans, diagnostic ultrasounds, keratometry, lensometry, tonometry, and visual fields to support the physician's review Reviews patient records for completeness to allow for a timely and efficient patient visit Maintains supplies and equipment in examining rooms to allow for adequate patient care Completes in basket messages to allow for timely communication to patients and providers Maintains overall patient experience and safety, following all emergency clinical policies and protocols, to allow for optimal Qualifications High School Diploma or GED JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross 1 year experience as an Ophthalmic Tech Primary Location : Tampa Work Locations : USF Health Morsani Center AHC 13330 USF Laurel Dr. Tampa 33612 Eligible for Remote Work : On Site Job : Nursing (Technical/Clerical) Organization : Academic Medical Group Inc Schedule : Full-time Scheduled Days : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Shift : Day Job Job Type : On Site Shift Hours : 8am-4:30pm Minimum Salary : 45,822.40 Job Posting : Jul 4, 2026, 2:55:25 PM
