Columbia Southern University Job Description Job Title: Organizational Learning & Development Specialist Department: Training and Development Reports to: Manager of Organizational Training and Culture FLSA: Exempt Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (extended hours when requested) Location: Orange Beach, AL Job Summary The Organizational Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning and development programs within the organization that enhance employee performance, support organizational objectives, and ensure compliance with applicable policies, and regulations. This is an onsite position, with the ability to work remotely on Fridays. Essential Job Duties Additional duties may be assigned. Promote and strengthen the organization’s culture by designing and delivering learning experiences that reinforce the mission, vision, values, and expected workplace behaviors. Assesses organizational training and evaluate learning effectiveness by collaborating with departments to identify skill gaps, deliver effective remote and in-person learning solutions, measure training outcomes through participation and performance metrics, and implement continuous improvements that enhance employee knowledge, performance, and organizational success Create, update, and maintain instructional materials, eLearning modules, facilitator guides, videos, and other learning resources while administering and supporting the organization’s training needs and goals. Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos. Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements. Evaluate program effectiveness through tracking, assessments, surveys, and feedback. Facilitates all annual training for staff and faculty, including scheduling, communication, and compliance tracking. Supports CSU’s onboarding process by assisting with New Employee Orientation (NEO) and ensuring a seamless and robust orientation for all new employees joining the organization. Build and maintain vendor relationships while managing the scheduling and logistics of on-site food truck events. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives. Ability to design and implement effective training and development. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in human resources, training and development, or a related field required, equivalent experience. A minimum of two years of demonstrated training experience is required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position is mostly onsite but may work remotely on Fridays. This position requires working in an office setting with the use of fluorescent lighting, which is present throughout the workspace When working remotely, the employee should have a designated workspace free from distractions, disruptive noise, and reliable and secure internet. Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position. The Learning and Organizational Development Specialist position requires timely, accurate, and effective accomplishment of tasks through collaboration with other roles within the HR team, and other institutional departments.
