🛢️ We're Hiring: Petroleum Engineering Manager

📍 Location: United Arab Emirates (Remote)

🕒 Employment Type: Full-Time

💼 Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior

🌐 Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

About Us

We are an energy-focused organization committed to maximizing hydrocarbon recovery, improving reservoir performance, optimizing field development, and delivering technically sound and economically sustainable petroleum engineering solutions.

Our distributed teams collaborate across Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling, Completions, Geoscience, Subsurface, Facilities, Operations, HSE, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, External Consultants, Joint Venture Partners, and Executive Leadership to optimize asset performance throughout the field lifecycle.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Petroleum Engineering Manager to provide technical and strategic leadership across petroleum engineering activities, including reservoir performance, production optimization, well planning, field development, reserves management, enhanced recovery, and asset evaluation.

The ideal candidate will combine strong petroleum engineering expertise with leadership, commercial awareness, project management, technical decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

The role will be responsible for developing field-development strategies, optimizing production and recovery, managing petroleum engineering studies, supporting reserves evaluations, evaluating development opportunities, and providing technical recommendations to senior management and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement petroleum engineering strategies aligned with asset objectives, production targets, recovery goals, economic requirements, and organizational priorities.
  • Lead petroleum engineering activities across exploration, appraisal, development, production, mature-field optimization, and asset life-cycle management.
  • Manage multidisciplinary petroleum engineering teams and coordinate activities across reservoir, production, drilling, completions, geoscience, facilities, and operations functions.
  • Develop and optimize field development plans, reservoir management strategies, production forecasts, well development programs, and recovery strategies.
  • Evaluate reservoir performance using production data, pressure data, well-test results, material balance, simulation studies, surveillance data, and other relevant technical information.
  • Lead production optimization initiatives to improve well performance, field production, recovery factor, operating efficiency, and asset value.
  • Evaluate well performance and identify opportunities for workovers, recompletions, stimulation, artificial lift optimization, infill drilling, sidetracks, and other production-enhancement activities.
  • Support well planning, well placement, completion strategies, and development sequencing from a petroleum engineering perspective.
  • Conduct reservoir and production engineering studies to assess field performance, development options, reserves, recovery mechanisms, and production constraints.
  • Develop and maintain production forecasts, reserves estimates, development scenarios, economic evaluations, and long-term field-performance models.
  • Lead reservoir management and enhanced oil recovery initiatives where applicable, including water injection, gas injection, miscible injection, chemical EOR, and other recovery techniques.
  • Collaborate with Geoscience teams to integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, reservoir, and production data into field-development decisions.
  • Work closely with Drilling and Completions teams to optimize well design, completion strategy, drilling sequence, and development economics.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Facilities teams to identify production constraints and develop solutions to improve facility and well-system performance.
  • Review and approve petroleum engineering studies, technical reports, production forecasts, reservoir models, development plans, and engineering recommendations.
  • Evaluate new field-development concepts, redevelopment opportunities, acquisition opportunities, farm-in/farm-out proposals, and other petroleum investment opportunities.
  • Support reserves and resources evaluations in accordance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop economic models and technical-commercial evaluations for drilling programs, development projects, workovers, production optimization initiatives, and recovery projects.
  • Monitor production performance against approved budgets, forecasts, development plans, reserves expectations, and operational targets.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators covering production, recovery, reserves, well performance, drilling success, operating efficiency, costs, and asset value.
  • Identify technical, operational, commercial, reservoir, production, and subsurface risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive petroleum engineering databases, production forecasts, well-performance records, reserves documentation, field-development plans, technical studies, and risk registers.
  • Ensure petroleum engineering activities comply with applicable technical standards, regulatory requirements, company policies, HSE requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Engage with joint venture partners, national oil companies, regulators, technical consultants, service companies, and other external stakeholders as required.
  • Provide technical leadership during field reviews, development reviews, reserves reviews, technical assurance activities, and investment decision processes.
  • Prepare technical presentations, investment recommendations, development proposals, performance reports, and executive-level recommendations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be measured through a combination of technical, operational, production, reserves, and commercial KPIs, including:

  • Production target achievement
  • Production growth
  • Recovery factor improvement
  • Reserves replacement and growth
  • Well productivity
  • Production forecast accuracy
  • Field-development plan performance
  • Drilling and completion success
  • Production optimization gains
  • Workover and intervention performance
  • Artificial lift performance
  • Operating cost efficiency
  • Development capital efficiency
  • Reservoir management performance
  • Enhanced oil recovery performance
  • Asset value and economic return
  • Technical risk reduction
  • HSE and regulatory compliance
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate should have strong experience in petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, production engineering, field development, asset management, or a related upstream oil and gas discipline.

Experience across conventional oil and gas, offshore, onshore, mature fields, unconventional resources, enhanced oil recovery, or integrated field-development environments would be advantageous.

The candidate should have strong technical knowledge combined with leadership, economic evaluation, project management, and multidisciplinary decision-making capabilities.

Experience working across the Middle East, GCC, or UAE oil and gas sector is highly desirable.

What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, production engineering, or integrated asset management.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir and production performance.
  • Experience developing field-development plans and production strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of well performance, well intervention, artificial lift, completions, and production optimization.
  • Experience with reservoir simulation, production forecasting, reserves evaluation, and field-performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of petroleum economics and investment evaluation.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and HSE principles.
  • Experience with petroleum engineering software, reservoir simulation tools, production-optimization platforms, and data-analysis systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of upstream asset economics.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical programs and priorities simultaneously.
  • Highly analytical, technically rigorous, commercially minded, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a fully remote environment.
  • Experience with UAE or wider GCC oil and gas assets is advantageous.
