Outbound Pharmacy Technician

Job Title: Outbound Pharmacy Technician Job Description The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey by coordinating medication deliveries, managing refill requests, and ensuring patients have the supplies needed for therapy. This position proactively engages with patients and caregivers, processes orders, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates closely with pharmacists, nurses, providers, and internal teams to deliver exceptional patient care and service. Responsibilities Initiate outbound calls to patients and caregivers to schedule medication deliveries and verify supply needs. Build and maintain strong patient relationships by providing compassionate, responsive, and professional customer service. Support medication adherence efforts by monitoring refill schedules and identifying potential gaps in therapy. Document and escalate patient-reported side effects, concerns, or adverse reactions to the appropriate clinical team. Verify insurance benefits, coverage, and payment options to facilitate order processing. Coordinate with pharmacists, nurses, and healthcare providers to ensure patient needs are addressed in a timely manner. Enter, process, and manage new prescription orders and refill requests within multiple workflow systems. Maintain accurate patient records and perform data entry throughout the entire order fulfillment process. Track and update order statuses, shipment information, and delivery confirmations. Ensure all patient orders are processed accurately and within established service-level timeframes. Pick, package, and prepare medications and medical supplies for shipment when working onsite. Confirm delivery completion and maintain accurate delivery documentation. Collaborate with intake teams and physician offices to obtain information needed for successful order processing. Utilize Microsoft Excel and other systems to support workflow management, reporting, and operational efficiency. Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Work effectively within a team environment while providing support to teammates and contributing to department goals. Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Essential Skills Customer service experience Pharmacy Technician Certificate and License Order entry and data entry proficiency Experience in prior authorization Experience as a Patient Care Coordinator Experience in a call center or fulfillment environment Knowledge of insurance processes Additional Skills & Qualifications Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License, required Active National Technician Certification Minimum 1 year working experience in pharmacy High School diploma or equivalent, required Experience in specialty pharmacy, patient access, or call center supporting medications. Exposure to EHR/pharmacy systems and end-to-end order workflows. Previous Specialty Pharmacy experience, preferred Bilingual abilities Previous call center experience Work Environment This is a hybrid role, offering a good work-life balance. Training can last from 2-6 weeks, depending on individual progress, and includes a minimum of 2-4 weeks onsite training before transitioning to a hybrid schedule. The role involves working 2 days onsite in Elk Grove Village and 3 days remotely. Remote work is a privilege based on performance, and insufficient performance can lead to revocation of remote days. Training and onboarding schedules are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm. After training, hours for outbound positions vary, generally starting between 8:30am and 9:30am. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
