Outpatient Professional Coder Fully Remote Flexible schedule once trained Role Overview As an Outpatient Professional Coder, you will play a vital role in reviewing, analyzing, and coding diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records. Your work ensures accurate billing, supports medical research, and aids in administrative decision-making. By maintaining compliance with coding guidelines and reimbursement policies, you will directly contribute to the quality of patient care and the efficiency of our healthcare system. What You Will Do Review and analyze patient medical records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural information. Abstract relevant data from medical records to support research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decisions. Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, and accreditation standards. Optimize reimbursement by applying established coding principles and procedures. Promote provider/patient continuity through precise and timely coding practices. What You Will Need Required Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), RHIT Certification eligibility, or CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCP, or CCA certification. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems. Preferred Qualifications Some college or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences. Six (6) months of prior coding experience.
