Job Description: Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to learn duties quickly, work independently with little supervision, and to read and write with proficiency. Demonstrates good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Previous clerical experience dealing with large volumes of sensitive information and written materials. Proficient computer skills. Ability to read and synthesize large amounts of data quickly. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Prior experience in undergraduate admissions or high school college counseling. Prior experience with Slate or other customer relationship management system. Conditions of Employment: Up to 30 hours per week during November and December. Minimum of 30 hours per week during January and February. Optional employment opportunities may be available in March and April based on departmental needs. Returning Readers begin in October and may continue through April depending on workload and the support needs of the department. Newly-hired Readers begin in November for training and may continue through April depending on workload and the support needs of the department. Must have proficient computer skills, access to high-speed internet, and the ability to work independently on campus or remotely from home. Must have a dedicated home-work space with a personal computer and high-speed, reliable internet access as all training and work is conducted remotely for this position. While prior experience is preferred, in order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest, Outside Admission Readers may not be currently employed at another university or high school, nor be employed independently or with any organization that provides personal college counseling of any type. Out-of-state hires will be considered. Any commuting expenses are not reimbursed. Employees must be located within the United States and available to work on an Eastern Standard Time schedule. This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position is a temporary (hourly) position not to exceed 6 months. All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
