Part-Time Industrial Designer – Electric Motorcycle

Company: Tromox Motorcycle (Hangzhou, China)

Position: Part-Time Industrial Designer – Electric Motorcycle

Location: Remote / Hangzhou, China (flexible)

Website: www.tromox.com

Email: [email protected]

About Tromox

Tromox is a Hangzhou-based startup that is redefining short- to medium-distance travel for young riders around the world. We blend stylish design, smart technology, and eco-friendly performance to create electric motorcycles that are as exciting to ride as they are to look at.

With a design studio based in Italy and a global vision, we fuse Italian aesthetic sensibility with cutting-edge engineering. Our portfolio includes everything from the minimalist, urban-focused MC10 StreetX, and the café-racer-inspired M05 "Electric Latte" to the adventure-ready MC10 TrailX—each model a statement of style, innovation, and freedom.

Beyond our design philosophy, Tromox is also a deeply technology-driven company. We have developed our proprietary "three-electric" core technologies — battery, motor, and electronic control — entirely in-house. This vertical integration gives us full control over performance, efficiency, and ride dynamics across our entire product line, ensuring that every Tromox bike is not only visually stunning but also brilliantly engineered from the inside out.

Our motto: Born for riding.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Part-Time Industrial Designer to join our design team and help shape the next generation of Tromox electric motorcycles.

As a key contributor, you will work closely with our design and R&D teams to conceptualize, develop, and refine motorcycle designs that are not only visually stunning but also functional, ergonomic, and aligned with our brand identity. This is an exciting opportunity for a designer who lives and breathes two-wheeled culture and wants to make a real impact in the fast-growing electric mobility space.

What You'll Do

  • Concept Development: Generate innovative design concepts for electric motorcycles, from initial sketches and renderings to 3D models.
  • Design Refinement: Develop and refine exterior and interior (cockpit) designs, focusing on aesthetics, ergonomics, and user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, R&D, and product teams to ensure designs are feasible, manufacturable, and aligned with technical requirements.
  • Trend Research: Stay ahead of design trends in automotive, motorcycle, and consumer electronics to keep Tromox at the cutting edge of style and innovation.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all designs reflect Tromox's unique brand language—a fusion of Italian elegance, futuristic technology, and a bold, metallic edge.
  • Prototyping Support: Assist in the creation of physical prototypes and design mockups for testing and presentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Transportation Design, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of industrial design experience (internships and academic projects count), preferably in motorcycle, automotive, or consumer product design.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional sketching, rendering, and 3D modeling skills, with a focus on vehicle or mobility design.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Alias, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, and other industry-standard software.
  • Design Sensibility: A keen eye for aesthetics, proportions, and surface language—with an appreciation for both minimalist and retro-futuristic design styles.
  • Communication: Excellent visual and verbal communication skills; ability to present and articulate design concepts clearly.
  • Passion: A genuine love for motorcycles, electric mobility, and the culture of riding.
  • Language: English proficiency required.

Confidentiality & IP Obligations (Design-Specific)

This role involves access to highly sensitive and proprietary design concepts, technical drawings, engineering data, and unreleased product strategies. As a condition of engagement, you will be required to:

  • Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the start of any work, covering all confidential information disclosed during your tenure.
  • Refrain from disclosing, reproducing, or using any confidential design materials (including sketches, 3D files, prototypes, and project briefs) for any purpose other than performing your assigned duties for Tromox.
  • Acknowledge that all intellectual property (IP) —including but not limited to design concepts, sketches, renderings, models, and specifications—created during your engagement shall be the sole property of Tromox Motorcycle, with no right to retain or reuse such IP after termination.
  • Immediately return or destroy all confidential materials upon request or upon the end of your engagement.
  • Report any potential breach or unauthorized access to the HRBP or designated IP officer.

What We Offer

  • Flexible, part-time working hours (remote available).
  • The opportunity to work on real production-bound motorcycle projects.
  • Collaboration with a global, passionate, and fast-moving team.
  • A front-row seat in the electric mobility revolution.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and portfolio.
  • All candidates will be required to sign an NDA and IP assignment agreement before commencing work.
