Job Details

Home-based role with travel to London and other business locations as required

You’re an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in getting the detail right, meeting every deadline and being someone others can rely on when payroll questions arise. You’d also like the opportunity to broaden your role across reporting, pensions, benefits and HR operations.

Payroll will account for at least half of your role, and you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end monthly process. You’ll become the payroll subject expert within the HR team, making sure employees and workers are paid accurately and on time, queries are handled calmly and reporting provides reliable information.

The wider role will give you the opportunity to build your experience across pensions, employee benefits, HR systems and general HR operations. There’s also real scope for you to improve reporting, strengthen processes and take broader ownership as your knowledge of the organisation develops.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process, from gathering and checking information through to final approval and submission
  • Preparing payroll reports and reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues
  • Responding to questions about pay, tax and deductions, using your knowledge of PAYE and HMRC requirements
  • Maintaining accurate employee and worker information across payroll, SAP and other HR records
  • Producing routine and ad hoc reports and identifying ways to improve the quality and use of HR and payroll data
  • Supporting the administration of pensions and employee benefits
  • Working confidently with payroll contacts, pension and benefit providers and other external partners
  • Supporting wider HR administration and employee lifecycle activity
  • Documenting and improving key processes to make them more accurate, consistent and efficient

What You’ll Bring

You’ll need strong payroll experience, including significant responsibility for an end-to-end payroll process, along with sound knowledge of PAYE and payroll-related HMRC requirements.

Accuracy and attention to detail will be critical, as will your ability to work confidently with reports, reconciliations and detailed data. You’ll have good Excel skills and be comfortable creating meaningful reports rather than simply extracting information from a system.

You’ll be calm, resilient and customer-focused, with the confidence to deal with sensitive pay queries and work with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Practical experience of pensions and employee benefits administration will be useful, although payroll remains the priority. SAP experience is strongly preferred but isn’t essential if you’ve used a comparable payroll or HR system. Wider HR operations experience would also be welcome.

Experience within football isn’t essential, although experience in sport or another high-profile, fast-paced or regulated environment would be useful.

This is a home-based role, but it isn’t fully remote. During your onboarding, you’ll be expected to attend the London office and other business locations around twice a week. Once you’re established, this is likely to reduce to around twice a month, with flexibility to attend more often when the role requires it.

What You’ll Receive

  • 8% employer pension contribution when you contribute 4%
  • Bupa private medical insurance after probation, plus four times salary life assurance and Group Income Protection
  • Annual leave allowance of 25 days plus Bank Holidays
  • A discretionary, non-contractual annual bonus equivalent to 5% of salary, linked to agreed KPIs
  • Care First Employee Assistance Programme and the Aviva DigiCare+ health and wellbeing app
  • Access to the Wellhub fitness and wellbeing platform after probation
  • The option to swap up to two UK bank holidays for personally meaningful days
  • Access to the EV car scheme after one year’s service, subject to eligibility

Closing date: 6 September 2026
