German Payroll Implementation Lead (Remote - Germany)

We're working with a fast-growing global organisation that's transforming the way international payroll is delivered. They're looking for an experienced German Payroll Implementation Lead to take ownership of complex payroll implementations and act as the go-to expert for Germany.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading projects, solving complex payroll challenges and working with global clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What we're looking for

• Extensive end-to-end German payroll experience within a payroll provider, bureau or outsourced payroll environment.
• Proven experience delivering German payroll implementation projects from discovery through to go-live.
• Strong knowledge of German payroll legislation, tax and statutory compliance.
• Fluent German and English (written and spoken) is essential.
• Confident working with payroll systems and reporting tools, with strong Excel skills.
• Experience reconciling payroll data and resolving complex payroll issues.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Process-driven mindset with a passion for improving ways of working.
• Comfortable working in a global, remote-first environment.

The role

• Lead end-to-end German payroll implementation projects for new clients.
• Act as the payroll SME for Germany throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Support client discovery sessions, project kick-offs and solution workshops.
• Manage implementations through configuration, testing, parallel runs and successful go-live.
• Produce clear implementation documentation and handover packs for Payroll Operations.
• Build and manage project plans, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
• Partner closely with internal teams including Sales, Product, Operations and Engineering.
• Identify process improvements and help shape best practice across implementations.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and contribute to payroll product enhancements.
• Mentor colleagues and provide guidance on German payroll legislation and implementation best practice.
