• Review, reconcile, and validate payroll data prior to final processing

• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee concerns, tax issues, and payroll inquiries

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll and wage and hour requirements

• Oversee timekeeping operations, ensuring employee time records are accurately reviewed, validated, and approved

• Identify, investigate, and resolve timekeeping exceptions

• Manage employee scheduling systems and support workforce management operations

• Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll, timekeeping, and scheduling systems

• Lead system implementations, testing, training, upgrades, integrations, and optimization

• Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvement

• Support payroll, 401(k), workers’ compensation audits, reporting requirements, and year-end activities

• Develop reporting and workforce metrics to support leadership decision-making

• Partner closely with HR, Finance, Operations, leadership, and shared services teams

These responsibilities are based on the original position description while keeping the employer's identity confidential.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive payroll and workforce management experience

• Strong full-cycle payroll experience, including processing, reconciliation, compliance, and regulatory reporting

• Strong knowledge of California wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and tax compliance requirements

• Experience working within a complex, multi-location organization

• Healthcare or medical group payroll experience strongly preferred

• Experience with Workday and ADP preferred

• Experience with timekeeping, scheduling, and workforce management systems

• Experience implementing or improving payroll, timekeeping, or scheduling systems is a plus

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and strict payroll deadlines

• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments and levels of leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant management experience
