Applies ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines to physician and outpatient services while ensuring compliance with payer and organizational policies. Reviews provider documentation and resolves routine coding issues. Essential Functions • Assigns CPT, ICD-10 and HCPS codes to PB services with moderate-level of complexity. • Maintains consistent achievement of departmental productivity and quality standards.. • Reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness, querying providers as needed. • Ensures compliance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and organizational policies. • Submits coded data to billing systems accurately and timely. • Responds to routine coding questions from providers or revenue cycle teams. • Participates in audits and incorporates feedback to improve coding accuracy. • Tracks and maintains productivity and quality standards. • Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent Experience Requirement: 2–3 years of professional coding experience An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted. Certifications & Licensures: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P) or equivalent required.
