Role Description The Mentor role is a full-time remote position supporting individuals in Wendi’s programs through structured guidance, encouragement, and skill-building. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting virtual mentoring sessions, helping mentees set and review personal, academic, and professional goals, and providing feedback on their progress. The Mentor will design simple development plans, share educational and career resources, and connect mentees with learning and networking opportunities. The role also involves collaborating with Wendi staff to align mentoring activities with program objectives, documenting mentee progress, and contributing insights to improve curricula and community initiatives. Mentors are expected to maintain professional, inclusive communication and uphold Wendi’s values of empowerment, respect, and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Strong mentoring and coaching abilities, with a genuine commitment to personal development and empowerment.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in education, youth development, community work, or social impact programs is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural environment, managing time and responsibilities independently.
  • Basic digital literacy, including use of video conferencing tools, document sharing platforms, and online collaboration tools.
  • Demonstrated integrity, empathy, resilience, and a solutions-oriented mindset when supporting mentees through challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Community Development, Psychology, or a related field is an advantage but not strictly required.
  • Prior experience in Uganda or similar contexts, and familiarity with nation-building or community empowerment initiatives, is a plus.
