The Role As a Peer Support Provider, you will play a vital role in supporting families of children and youth impacted by mental health challenges. Working closely with a Care Coordinator and a multidisciplinary care team, you will provide non-clinical, peer-based support to caregivers, helping them navigate systems, access services, and build on their strengths. In this role, your lived experience as a caregiver gives you a unique ability to connect with families, validate their experiences, and guide them through the often complex mental health system. You will offer support through one-on-one meetings, phone contact, group programming, and community connections, helping families feel empowered and understood. You’ll be part of a collaborative team within a primary care setting, contributing to family-centred care planning and service coordination. Your knowledge of local community resources and your ability to build trusting relationships will be essential in helping families access the supports they need. T his is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference by using your personal experience to support others, while working in an environment that values respect, collaboration, and wellness. This is a contract role ending in May 2027 for an existing vacancy. Who we’re looking for: Must have lived experience as the primary caregiver (which could include Foster Parents or family members who are in a care providing role of a child of youth with emotional or behavioural challenges), who has accompanied that child through a child serving system (i.e., mental health, child welfare of youth justice). Experienced in group facilitation and public speaking is considered an asset. Knowledge of local community resources. What will help you succeed: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential Strong interpersonal skills Proficient in the use of technology and working in a virtual environment; MAC OS operating systems; strong MS Word and Excel competencies are essential; expertise in the use of PowerPoint is an asset The ability to work evenings as required.
