Position summary In anticipation of a contract award, Tantus, a Sikich Subsidiary, is seeking a Pega Certified Business Architect to support the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role focuses on Assessment and Implementation of Pega and AI/ML Enhancements and identifying, scoping, and shepherding digital modernization opportunities that combine Pega's workflow and case-management capabilities with NIH-approved AI/ML technologies. The Business Architect will engage program areas, operational offices, and subject matter experts across NIA to document current-state business processes, surface pain points, and translate them into actionable Pega/AI-ML solution concepts. The role requires a hybrid skillset: strong functional fluency in business process analysis and requirements elicitation, paired with working technical knowledge of the Pega Platform to credibly assess feasibility and scope with the Lead System Architect. Day to day, this person will own the relevant backlog, lead Agile ceremonies, and serve as the primary stakeholder point of contact for requirements-gathering sessions. Close coordination with the IT Project Manager and Certified Pega Senior System Architect ensures that prioritization and delivery stay aligned with NIA's institutional priorities and NIH governance and change-management processes. This is a remote position with occasional required travel to NIA worksites in Bethesda, Rockville, and Baltimore, MD, for planning and organizational workshops. Essential Job Duties: Lead Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholder engagement sessions across NIA program areas and operational offices. Facilitate requirements-elicitation workshops to document current-state business processes, pain points, and automation opportunities. Review and validate proposed Pega workflow, case-management, business-rule, and decisioning designs for feasibility and business fit. Coordinate with the Lead System Architect and Senior System Architect to assess how AI/ML capabilities can be integrated into Pega solutions. Manage and prioritize the Task Area 5 product backlog to reflect NIA's evolving institutional priorities. Validate that implemented enhancements satisfy documented functional and business requirements prior to deployment. Support development of technical recommendations, including cost, schedule, and risk considerations, for Government-approved solutions. Identify data quality, process, and operational risks surfaced during business process analysis. Collaborate with cross-component stakeholders to maintain a shared understanding of scope and delivery status. Maintain PMO governance artifacts, including status reports, backlogs, and process documentation, in the Government-designated repository. Support knowledge-transfer activities to enable Government personnel to operate and maintain deployed Pega and AI/ML features. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: U.S. Citizenship (required for HHS systems access) and ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance. 5+ years of experience as a Business Architect, Business Analyst, or similar role on Pega Platform implementations. ( Required ) Certified Pega Business Architect (CPBA) certification. Hands-on experience eliciting and documenting business requirements for case-management or workflow automation solutions. Working knowledge of Pega's workflow, case-management, business-rules, and decisioning capabilities. Experience leading Agile ceremonies and managing a product backlog for a technical delivery team. Ability to read and validate technical designs and translate them into business-facing recommendations. Familiarity with federal or HHS/NIH program environments and associated governance/change-management processes. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project, SharePoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience facilitating stakeholder workshops. Preferred Certifications & Qualifications Prior experience supporting NIH, HHS, or other federal health/research agencies. Familiarity with Pega Constellation and AI/ML integration patterns within Pega solutions. Experience with federal IT governance, RMF/ATO processes, or compliance-driven delivery environments. Background supporting digital modernization or legacy-to-cloud transition initiatives. Experience operating in a hybrid business-analyst/technical-SME capacity on government contracts. In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $1 2 0 ,000- $1 3 7 , 5 00- $1 5 5,000.
