GGC is actively searching for a People & Culture Generalist (Contract to December 2027 - Maternity leave coverage) * Remote work arrangement. Must reside in Canada. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture the People & Culture Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the People & Culture function with a focus on employee relations, absence management, policy administration, and offboarding processes. This role ensures that all people-related activities align with organizational goals and comply with relevant laws and regulations. The People & Culture Generalist will collaborate closely with leadership and employees to promote a positive work environment and foster strong employee experience. In this role your key responsibilities will be: Employee Relations Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including providing advice, resolving conflicts, conducting required investigations and supporting people leaders with policy interpretation and application. Support the termination and disciplinary processes, ensuring compliance with organization policies, legal requirements, and best practices. Assist in the preparation of documentation for disciplinary actions, including notices, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and termination letters. Administer and support the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) process, working closely with managers to develop clear objectives, timelines, and follow-ups to address performance concerns. Provide guidance on workplace health and safety practices, incident reports ensuring compliance with OHS standards across all provinces. Absence Management Manage all aspects of absence management, including tracking leaves of absence, facilitating return-to-work plans, addressing absenteeism and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Oversee Short-Term Leaves and Long-Term Disability (LTD) cases, ensuring timely communication with employees, coordination with benefits providers, and compliance with organizational policies. Work with employees and people leaders to address absenteeism patterns and provide support guidance regarding management of employee relation matters. Work closely with the Payroll & Benefits Lead to ensure accurate payroll and benefits records and compliance. Collaborate with the People & Culture team to ensure compliance with statutory leave entitlements and other legal requirements. Policy Administration and Compliance Support the administration and communication of organization policies and procedures to ensure clarity and compliance. Provide guidance to employees and people leaders on the interpretation and application of HR policies, ensuring consistent adherence. Stay up-to-date with changes in employment legislation and regulations, recommending necessary policy adjustments to maintain compliance. Support the periodic review of existing policies and procedures to ensure they remain up-to-date, relevant, and compliant with current laws and best practices. Conduct audits of HR practices with Payroll & Benefits Lead to verify adherence to policies. Offboarding and Exit Process Manage the offboarding process for employees, ensuring all necessary steps are completed, including exit interviews, final documentation, and return of company property. Analyze exit interview data to identify trends, contributing factors to turnover, and areas for improvement within the organization. Other duties Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring HRIS data is up-to-date and compliant with organizational standards. Assist in preparing HR reports and analysis related to employee relations, attendance, and other key metrics. Ensure compliance with Canadian employment legislation, including provincial Employment Standards Acts (ESAs), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and other relevant legal requirements. Maintain established People & Culture processes and procedures, supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the People & Culture function. Support People & Culture projects, operational priorities and initiatives as assigned. . You are an ideal candidate if you have: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role, with a focus on employee relations, absence management (including STD and LTD), performance management, and compliance with Canadian employment laws. Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, including provincial Employment Standards Acts (ESAs), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and related compliance requirements. Familiarity with STD and LTD processes, including claims management and return-to-work coordination. Experience in administering PIPs, including drafting plans, facilitating discussions, and monitoring progress. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build trust and handle sensitive situations with discretion. Experience conducting workplace investigations. Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) and advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Detail-oriented with strong time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide insights to support decision-making. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and new challenges in a fast-paced environment. Actively seeks out opportunities to learn and develop new skills, open to feedback and embraces new tools, processes, or ways of working to drive personal and organizational growth. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards, and ability to collaborate with leadership to ensure a safe working environment Additional assets include: Experience in Membership-based organizations, Associations or Non–profit organizations Experience working with volunteers Knowledge of Girl Guides of Canada Benefits: What’s in it for you?
