About Hedgehog Marketing
Hedgehog Marketing is a Melbourne-based digital marketing consultancy and training business, working with small teams Australia-wide since 2016. Our whole thing is helping teams own their marketing - building their capability in-house instead of renting it from an agency forever.
Our clients are marketing departments of zero to five people. Sometimes it's a founder doing everything. Sometimes it's a small team wearing all the hats. Either way, we teach them how their marketing works, why it works, and what to do next - with us on the call with them, inside their actual accounts.
We're not the kind of agency that runs your ads behind a curtain and sends a monthly report no one can decode. We're also not sharky, and we don't have big heads. We're a small crew of data and marketing nerds who understand how businesses actually make money, get properly excited about a well-structured account, and love the moment a client's face changes because the penny has finally dropped.
We've worked with hundreds of teams and overseen millions in ad spend, with a 5.0 rating across all our Google reviews.
We Actually Like This Job
That sounds like a low bar. It isn't, and we don't take it for granted.
Every training program is one-on-one, so no two are the same. A different business, a different account, a different set of problems, and usually something you've never seen before. You learn constantly - not in a "professional development budget" way, in a genuine "I got better at this because a client asked me something hard" way.
Then you get to take everything you've learned and hand it to the next client. And the one after that. The knowledge compounds, and you get to give it away over and over.
We finish most weeks feeling good about what we did. That's the job we're offering you a share of.
The Role
Here's where we're at: we are flooded with training enquiries. We're booked to October (and probably further by the time you've read this) and turning good businesses away, which is doing our heads in. The work is already there - that's why we need you in the door as soon as you're ready.
We're hiring a Performance Marketing Trainer to deliver our 8-week training program - one-on-one with clients, inside their real Google Ads and Meta Ads accounts, teaching them to run their own marketing properly. All training is delivered remotely; our clients are all over Australia, and so is this role.
What the work actually looks like. Each program runs eight weeks - around 7 hours of live sessions, and clients book themselves straight into your calendar. You'd have about 10 programs running at a time. The framework is already built and the scheduling runs itself. What you bring is the expertise and the teaching.
And it's not just what happens on the platforms. A big part of the program is everything around the ads: briefing creative, building landing pages, producing ads at scale with AI from the client's existing assets. Not sloppy creative - really good creative. You'll be teaching clients the whole engine, not just the dashboard.
This isn't an instructional design role. No slide decks built from theory, no workshopping pedagogy. You'll be running live sessions in live accounts, teaching skills you've genuinely used yourself. You need to know Meta (hooks, ad appeals, creative testing) and Google Ads (the technical build - structure, keyword quality scores, tracking) well enough to teach both, not just one.
You won't be thrown in cold. You'll watch recorded sessions, sit in on live ones, deliver with our founder on the call, then run your own.
You'll work directly with Josh, our founder, and alongside Teddi, our Head of Implementation. You'd be our first dedicated trainer.
Our line to clients at the end of the program is "you're the marketer now." Your job is to make that true. You'll be building your clients' expertise, not renting them someone else's process - and you'll believe in every bit of it.
On Hours
25 to 40 hours a week, shaped around you. This role genuinely works at 9:30am-3pm.
If you're returning from parental leave, or working around school hours, this job was built with you in mind. That's not a concession we're making - it's a deliberate decision about who does this work best. We'd love to hear from you.
We're AI-Focused (And You'll Get the Toolkit Too)
AI is baked into how we train. We teach clients to genuinely understand their accounts - so they can run them with or without AI - and then hand them AI tooling that makes them dramatically faster at the thing they now understand. Campaign ideation, creative production, landing pages: the agents go with the client, permanently.
That's the balance we care about: fundamentals first, superpowers second. A client who only knows how to prompt is a client who can't tell when the output is wrong.
You'll be working with that same toolkit every day, and you'll get hands on our own marketing too - real budget, real results, our own tools. If you're the kind of marketer who's already poking at what AI can and can't do in an ad account, you'll have a very good time here.
Ground Floor, And It's Yours to Own
We're not filling a seat. We're hiring the person who builds our training department.
We're only just getting started with this side of the business and we plan to grow it significantly. You'd come in as our first dedicated trainer, at the exact moment demand is outrunning our capacity.
That's not a vague "opportunities for growth" line. It's the actual plan - this part of the business will be yours to own, and the department will be built around you or underneath you (if you're the right fit!).
What You'll Be Doing
What We're Looking For:
The profile that fits. You've been the specialist, the generalist and everything in between - pretty close to our own clients a year into running their own marketing. We're not looking for someone from a large marketing team where the channels are split across specialists.

How to Apply
Apply right here on LinkedIn with your CV - one click, a few quick questions, done. We'll cover budget scale, hours and the rest in the intro call.
Bonus points: record a 2-minute video explaining any marketing concept you like, as if we were a client hearing it for the first time. Pop the link at the top of your CV or send it to us in a LinkedIn message. This is a teaching job - show us you can teach. Not required, but we watch these first.
