Permitting Specialist (Remote — US Solar)

Remote · Full-time · US hours overlap We are hiring on behalf of a US solar company. Before a single panel goes on a roof, a US building department has to approve the plans. Thousands of jurisdictions, each with its own checklist, portal, and plan checker who will reject you over a setback. You'll be the person who knows how to get through them. What you'll do Research AHJ requirements: submittal checklists, fees, portals, plan set standards, fire setbacks Assemble and submit permit packages through building department portals, SolarAPP+, and Symbium Coordinate with design/CAD on plan sets and with engineers on structural and stamped letters Handle plan check corrections and resubmittals until the permit is issued Schedule inspections, track outcomes, and turn around failed-inspection corrections quickly Own permit fees, expirations, and revisions across the pipeline Build and maintain the AHJ requirements database What we're looking for 1–3 years in US solar permitting, submitting to AHJs directly Working knowledge of NEC (2017/2020/2023), IRC/IBC, and PV fire setback requirements Ability to read a plan set and anticipate what a plan checker will flag Written and spoken English sufficient for calls with permit technicians Availability that overlaps meaningfully with US business hours Bonus points Depth in a specific state (California, Texas, Florida, Arizona) SolarAPP+ automated permitting Aurora, OpenSolar, or basic AutoCAD literacy What's offered $2,000–2,300 gross per month 20 days of vacation + religious holidays Fully remote, long-term engagement A role where speed and precision show up directly in the numbers
