Tyson Mutrux
I’ve
always wanted to be an attorney, but when I was younger I didn’t think
it was possible. Neither one of my parents graduated from high school
and money wasn’t something we had a lot of. My dad and my mom both
worked two jobs and taught me the value of hard work. As a mechanic,
my dad knew how grueling manual labor can be, so he intentionally
wouldn’t let me work on cars so that I wouldn’t follow in his footsteps.
I
owe a lot to my parents, my wife, my family and my friends for where I
am today. But I can point to two moments in my life that led me
becoming a lawyer. The first may seem trivial to most, but it isn’t to
me. On my high school graduation day, I received a book from one of my
favorite teachers, Mrs. Morgan. The book? The Street Lawyer, by John
Grisham. The plot of the book isn’t what mattered; it was the message.
Mrs. Morgan had always encouraged me to become a lawyer, and this was
another nudge down that path. With the simple act of giving me that
book, she was telling me to follow my dream. [The book is great, by
the way – I still have the original she gave me.

Mutrux Firm, LLC is ideally looking for a Litigation Associate who has Personal Injury experience. Workers' Compensation experience is a bonus. We have 2 physical locations, one in St. Louis and one in Columbia, MO. This would be a hybrid position with work from home as an option, as appearances allow.
The attorney must be licensed in Missouri. In addition, being licensed in Illinois, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Kansas would also be beneficial, although not required.
The attributes we are looking for in an associate include optimism, grit, and the desire to be great at your job. We only do contingent fee injury work. If you want to hustle to get new clients and want to be a part of the trial team helping everyday people (not just some attorney going through the motions), then apply with us. If you’re more interested in your monthly billables and your office view, then please don’t apply – you will not like this job.
Requirements
Motion practice for all litigation files, to include the drafting and arguing of most motions on the record.
Manage day-to-day emails and communication with opposing counsel.
First-chair jury trials for smaller cases.
Second-chair jury trials for catastrophic loss cases.
Appellate practice when needed.
Trial strategy and case development with lead attorney.
Written Discovery
Plaintiff, Defendant, and Expert Depositions
Reviewing releases and other needed documents
