What You'll Do As a Piping Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering, coordination, and execution of piping system designs throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: Develop piping system designs that comply with customer requirements, project schedules, and applicable industry codes and standards. Support gas turbine and power generation projects from concept and specification development through procurement, construction support, commissioning, and warranty periods. Review contracts, technical requirements, and project schedules to define piping scope, deliverables, and milestones. Interpret and apply ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and related industry standards to engineering designs and specifications. Review and coordinate P&IDs, isometric drawings, equipment drawings, piping layouts, and other engineering documents. Develop piping material specifications and support procurement activities for pipe, valves, fittings, flanges, supports, and specialty components. Generate bills of materials (BOMs), material take-offs (MTOs), valve lists, and other project documentation from engineering drawings and 3D models. Utilize 3D design tools, including SP3D and similar platforms, to develop and review piping systems. Coordinate with stress analysis, structural, mechanical, electrical, controls, civil, and project management teams. Support technical discussions with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel. Participate in vendor evaluations, bid reviews, and procurement activities. Assist with technical issue resolution during project execution and startup activities. Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance project quality. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practices, and lessons learned across projects. Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with company quality standards. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 1-15 years of experience in piping engineering, piping design, pipe stress analysis, or related engineering roles. Experience with industrial facilities such as: Power generation Gas turbine plants Steam turbine facilities Oil & gas Petrochemical Pulp & paper Heavy industrial projects Knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.1 and/or ASME B31.3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and equipment layouts. Understanding of piping materials, valves, supports, flanges, gaskets, and related components. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SP3D, PDMS, PDS, AutoPLANT, or similar 3D design platforms. Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and pipe support systems. Experience developing piping specifications and procurement packages. Familiarity with vendor management, bid evaluations, and supplier coordination. Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure. Master's degree in Engineering. Knowledge of ASME Section II, MSS, PCC, PFI, and related standards.
