Overview Milliman's Indianapolis Health practice is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This role will play a key role in building and maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure primarily on Azure. This role will focus on implementing cloud infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, Databricks platform enablement, security and governance, and supporting migrations of client workloads across clouds. Responsibilities In this role, you will support the following: Cloud Infrastructure & Automation Implement and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, Terraform, GitHub Actions) Develop and maintain GitHub Actions workflows and CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and application deployments Support Azure networking, identity, access control, private connectivity, and other platform services Support containerization and orchestration efforts Databricks Platform Engineering Build, configure, and maintain Azure Databricks environments, including workspaces, compute, cluster policies, and Unity Catalog Support migrations of Databricks workloads and client environments across cloud platforms Implement Databricks governance, access controls, secure data access, and platform standards Partner with data teams to ensure scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient use of Databricks Troubleshoot Databricks infrastructure, connectivity, permissions, and platform-related issues Operations & Reliability Monitor infrastructure and Databricks workloads for performance, cost, and availability Contribute to disaster recovery, backups, and high-availability solutions Maintain observability and alerting frameworks across Azure and Databricks environments Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues and help identify opportunities for automation and improvement Security & Compliance Enforce IAM, RBAC, and least-privilege practices across Azure and Databricks platforms Implement compliance checks and controls aligned with HITRUST, HIPAA, and SOC 2 to maintain audit readiness across the platform Collaboration & Support Work with developers, data engineers, and other team members to enable faster, more secure delivery Document processes and platform standards for consistent adoption Stay current with evolving cloud, DevOps, security, and data platform technologies Qualifications Strong understanding of Git and GitHub workflows Databricks experience: workspace management, Unity Catalog, compute/cluster governance, and cross-cloud migrations Working knowledge of Azure networking, identity, RBAC, and cloud security concepts Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills Required: 3+ years of professional experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar software engineering role, managing: Databricks: workspace management, Unity Catalog, cluster governance, and cross-cloud migrations Git and GitHub workflows Infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in computer science, engineering, or a related field Professional experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks Professional experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or similar Preferred: Familiarity with HITRUST, HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar compliance frameworks Certification in cloud platforms Good knowledge of agile methodologies and practices Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future. The Team The IndyHealth Platform Team builds and maintains the secure, scalable infrastructure and shared platforms that power our practice’s analytical and reporting capabilities. The team designs and operates core systems such as Databricks and the Milliman Access Portal (MAP), ensuring stability, performance, and compliance across all environments. Through cross-collaboration with other IndyHealth teams, the Platform Team develops automation, cloud solutions, and governance frameworks that enable efficient, reliable, and compliant delivery across the practice. Location The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis. Compensation The overall salary range for this role is $85,100 to $140,500.
