PL/SQL Database Developer

Au sein du département IT, nous intervenons sur des besoins relatifs aux secteurs du Trading de matières premières ou financiers, Pharmaceutique, Aéronautique, Spatial, Énergie, Horlogerie et des fondations Suisse.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced PL/SQL Database Developer to join an internal technology team in Geneva supporting a business critical enterprise platform.

The role combines hands on database development, data modelling, application enhancement and direct interaction with business users. You will work on a mature Oracle based environment containing complex business logic and large volumes of operational data.

A significant part of the position will involve understanding existing processes and data structures, developing new functionality and contributing to the integration of systems following a recent business acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new functionality within a core Oracle based business application

• Translate operational requirements into appropriate data models and technical solutions

• Develop and optimise database logic using SQL and PL/SQL

• Maintain, troubleshoot and improve existing application modules

• Work directly with business users to understand requirements and resolve application issues

• Provide day to day application support and guidance to users

• Contribute to a major system and data integration initiative involving another business environment

• Participate in frequent releases and continuous improvements of the platform

• Build a strong understanding of the existing data model and underlying business logic

• Potentially contribute to the longer term modernisation and migration of parts of the technology stack

Technical Environment

The current environment is primarily based on:

• Oracle databases

• PL/SQL and advanced SQL

• Oracle Forms / Forms Builder

Exposure to C#, C++ or Python would be useful as the technology landscape continues to evolve.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline

• At least 3 years of experience in database development, database engineering or a comparable user facing technical position

• Strong practical experience with SQL and relational data modelling

• Good knowledge of PL/SQL, or strong experience with another procedural database language such as T SQL

• Ability to understand complex data structures and translate business processes into database solutions

• Comfortable working directly with users and investigating both functional and technical issues

• Independent and pragmatic approach, while being comfortable working within a collaborative development team

• Strong communication skills and professional fluency in English

Experience with Oracle Forms, transaction intensive business applications, financial or trading environments would be advantageous.

French is useful but not required.

Predominantly office based, with one day of remote work per week.
