About Startin.LV

The Latvian Startup Association, Startin.LV, is the largest member organisation representing Latvia’s startup community and a central voice for startups in Latvia. We work to strengthen Latvia’s startup ecosystem locally and internationally, represent startup interests in policy discussions, and improve the conditions for building and scaling innovative companies from Latvia. Our work sits at the intersection of startups, government, investors, universities and the wider innovation ecosystem.

The role

Policy work is still too often manual, fragmented and slow. We think it can be done differently. At Startin.LV, we want to combine AI, automation, data and strong policy judgement to rethink how policy monitoring, research and interest representation are done. We are looking for an enthusiastic, curious and AI-first person who wants to build the systems behind this. This is not a traditional policy analyst role. You will help build the policy engine of the organisation.

What you will build and work with

• Policy monitoring tools that track relevant developments across Parliament, ministries, the European Commission and other institutions, and surface what matters early.
• Research and briefing workflows that allow us to produce high-quality analysis in days rather than months.
• AI-assisted policy drafting tools that bring together international comparisons, relevant data, previous positions and key trade-offs before the first draft reaches the team.
• Living profiles of our members, partners and stakeholders, so that when a policymaker needs to understand an issue, we can identify and involve the right founder or expert in days rather than weeks.
• An organisational knowledge base that captures what Startin.LV already knows: positions we have taken, arguments that worked, commitments policymakers have made, who said what and when, and what evidence we have already collected. Routine work should not restart from zero every time.
• Upkeep and update the national startup database - a reliable and continuously improving picture of Latvia’s startup ecosystem that can support our policy work, research and public communication.
• Verification and quality-control systems built directly into AI workflows. The goal is not only to generate answers faster, but to catch when those answers are wrong, incomplete or unsupported.
• Automation across the organisation, identifying repetitive work and building practical systems that make the team faster and more effective.

What we are looking for

This is a building job first.

• You have built AI-supported workflows that actually ran and did something useful. Agents, automation platforms such as Make or n8n, APIs, databases and documents wired together into a working system. We will ask you to show us something you have built.
• You find policy, regulation or economics genuinely interesting, and you have judgement about arguments. A traditional policy CV is not required. What matters is that you can understand evidence, competing positions and trade-offs.
• You have a good working level of Latvian and strong English. Much of the material we work with is in Latvian.
• You check things, are looking to innovate and keep information tidy. AI tools invent citations, miss context and still hallucinate. Verification is not an afterthought here; it is part of the work.
• You can set your own priorities. You will need to understand what matters, decide what should be built or automated next, and move it forward.



Useful, but not required: Python or SQL; experience with public administration or EU processes; familiarity with the Latvian startup ecosystem; or a background in law, economics, public policy or a related field.

Working model: Hybrid, remote and in Startup House Riga

Location: Latvia

Salary: EUR 1,800–2,100 bruto per month, depending on experience.
