Reporting to the Deputy Registrar, the Practice Intelligence, Quality, and Foresight Lead is responsible for developing and integrating ACP’s quality improvement initiatives, risk and quality frameworks for pharmacy practice, and practice intelligence functions. The role translates public expectations, system pressures, and emerging pharmacy practice trends into regulatory insights, performance measures, and evidence-informed recommendations to support decision-making. Key responsibilities Quality frameworks, measurement, and performance insight Lead the ongoing development, maintenance, and evaluation of practice-based quality improvement initiatives for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Maintain ACP’s CQI+ program. Identify practice risks through data-informed analysis. Support ACP pharmacy practice consultants in translating quality data into sustainable practice change and patient safety outcomes. Lead the development of a quality framework for pharmacy practice in Alberta, including identifying and validating quality indicators. Design and support pharmacy performance metrics to enable quality improvement, benchmarking, and regulatory oversight. Gather and analyze insights from pharmacy practice consultants to support referrals for competence assessment within the Continuing Competence Program (CCP). Lead the development and ongoing operations of ACP’s practice-based risk framework, including the identification and validation of key indicators that predict risks to patient safety and quality pharmacy practice. Support predictive, data-informed approaches to identifying quality and safety risks. Develop reporting processes to support risk oversight and strategic decision-making. Practice intelligence and knowledge translation Translate public expectations of pharmacy services into actionable practice implications. Monitor the evolving roles and responsibilities of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and unregulated personnel in community pharmacies and identify opportunities to strengthen team-based care. Research and develop initiatives to support pharmacy professionals in addressing unmet patient needs in primary care and urgent care. Support the development and implementation of initiatives that help identify and address barriers to quality practice. Serve as a practice subject matter expert for complaints resolution advisors. Provide input into policy and legislative development based on practice intelligence, quality data, and emerging trends. Practice foresight and innovation Evaluate public experiences and expectations related to future pharmacy service models. Research, identify, and support the implementation of future pharmacy practice and delivery models that support safe and effective services to the public and align with expectations. Develop a framework for assessing emerging practice innovations. Monitor and evaluate innovative pharmacy service and practice areas, applying the regulatory framework to ensure quality patient care. Collaborate with the registration team to establish criteria for pharmacy licensure models. Serve as a practice subject matter expert for ACP’s business intelligence and analytics functions to support the implementation and use of analytics. About you You are a strategic and analytical professional who thrives in complex, systems-based environments and can translate complex information into clear practice insights and actionable recommendations. You are a self-starter with the ability to work independently to create your own direction and plans. You have excellent project management skills and can align diverse groups together to achieve a shared vision. You are motivated by improving systems of care and passionate about regulatory excellence, quality improvement, and patient safety in pharmacy practice. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) or equivalent. Master’s degree in health/public policy, health administration, leadership, or business is considered an asset. Registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy. Five to seven years of progressively responsible pharmacy practice experience. Recent experience in a role connected to patient care, with exposure to innovative pharmacy practices and trends. Experience in, or demonstrated aptitude for, analytics and knowledge translation. Experience implementing and sustaining practice change. Knowledge of quality frameworks and standards. Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and territorial pharmacy legislation. Project management experience is strongly preferred. PMP certification is considered an asset. Experience in applied research methodologies and knowledge of privacy legislation are assets.
