Pricing Analyst (Drayage & Transportation)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Pricing Analyst with experience in drayage transportation, logistics pricing, and supply chain operations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing competitive pricing strategies, preparing customer quotations, analyzing market trends, and supporting business growth through data-driven pricing decisions.

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of drayage operations, port and rail transportation, carrier rate structures, accessorial charges, and transportation market dynamics. You will work closely with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, carriers, and 3PL partners to ensure all pricing reflects current market conditions and operational requirements while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain pricing strategies for drayage transportation services across multiple U.S. markets.
• Prepare accurate, competitive, and profitable pricing proposals based on operational requirements, carrier costs, market conditions, and historical pricing data.
• Analyze transportation market trends, capacity fluctuations, fuel costs, port activity, and rail ramp conditions to support pricing decisions.
• Maintain and update carrier rate databases, pricing tools, and market intelligence resources.
• Provide pricing recommendations and guidance to Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams.
• Support customer bids, RFPs, and strategic pricing initiatives through detailed cost and profitability analysis.
• Build and maintain relationships with drayage carriers, transportation providers, and 3PL partners to gather market intelligence and pricing information.
• Monitor pricing performance and profitability metrics to ensure sustainable margins and competitive positioning.
• Analyze transportation expenses and accessorial charges, including detention, demurrage, chassis usage, fuel surcharges, port fees, and other related costs.
• Ensure all customer quotes accurately reflect operational requirements and current market conditions.
• Generate reports and pricing insights for leadership to support strategic business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes, reporting accuracy, and pricing methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in transportation pricing, logistics analysis, supply chain operations, or a related field.
• Direct experience within the drayage industry, including port and rail operations.
• Experience working with drayage carriers, transportation providers, and third-party logistics (3PL) companies.
• Strong understanding of transportation pricing structures and market dynamics within drayage and intermodal transportation.
• Experience maintaining carrier pricing databases and analyzing market rates across major U.S. port and rail markets.
• In-depth knowledge of drayage cost components, including:
• Detention
• Demurrage
• Chassis fees
• Fuel surcharges
• Port fees
• Other accessorial charges
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret market data and pricing trends.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pricing analysis, reporting, and data management.
• Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and pricing platforms.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple pricing requests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting customer bids, RFPs, and contract pricing initiatives.
• Knowledge of intermodal transportation and containerized freight operations.
• Experience analyzing profitability, transportation costs, and operational performance metrics.
• Experience working for a logistics provider, brokerage, freight forwarder, drayage carrier, or 3PL organization.
