Job Responsibilities Industry experience as a Biostatistician using R is required. Rshiny would be advantage Role Summary The Principal Biostatistician – will leverage interactive R applications to explore, analyze, and communicate insights from clinical trial data. This role combines clinical trial expertise, statistical thinking, and modern R programming to support exploratory analyses, facilitate scientific discussions, and generate actional insights for study teams. The successful candidate will work closely with statisticians, clinicians, and R application developers to identify meaningful analytical questions, prepare clinical datasets, generate interactive visualizations, and drive improvements to the DIG analytical platform. Key Responsibilities - Perform exploratory analyses of clinical trial data using interactive R/Shiny applications. - Prepare, integrate, and quality-check clinical datasets for downstream exploratory analyses. - Identify trends, safety signals, efficacy patterns, subgroup differences, and data quality issues through interactive visualization. - Lead data review sessions and exploratory analysis meetings using interactive visualizations to communicate findings and facilitate scientific discussions. - Translate complex statistical results into clear visual narratives that support clinical decision making. - Collaborate with clinicians, statisticians, programmers, and R application developers to define analytical requirements and prioritize new application features. - Develop reproducible analytical workflows and reports using modern R tools. - Contribute enhancements, bug reports, and feature requests to continuously improve the application ecosystem. - Train and support users of internally developed analytical applications. - Stay current with emerging analytical methodologies and visualization techniques within the R ecosystem. Minimum Qualifications - Previous experience using R for statistical analysis and data visualization, including experience with Shiny applications. - MS or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline, with experience supporting clinical development within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry. - Strong understanding of clinical trial design, statistical methodology, and clinical data standards. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to multidisciplinary audiences. - Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to thrive in a Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) environment. - Fluency in English - Based in Europe Technical Skills Clinical Data & Statistics - Strong understanding of SDTM and ADaM datasets. - Experience conducting exploratory analyses of efficacy and safety data. - Knowledge of statistical methodology used throughout clinical development. - Experience interpreting and communicating statistical findings. R Programming Demonstrated experience with: - Advanced R programming - Data manipulation and transformation - Reproducible analytical workflows - Experience with packages such as: shiny, plotly, ggplot2, dplyr, tidyr, purr, gt, gtsummary, reactable Data Visualization Experience creating and presenting interactive visualizations using shiny, plotly, ggplot2, and/or other visualization packages. Ability to effectively communicate clinical findings through interactive graphics and dashboards Reproducible Analysis Experience with: - Quarto or RMarkdown - Git and GitHub - Reproducible reporting - Quality control of analytical datasets - Collaborative analytical workflows Preferred Qualifications Experience with one or more of: - Posit Connect - R package development - SQL - Arrow or DuckDB - AI-assisted analytical workflows - Machine learning methods for exploratory analyses - Clinical dashboards and interactive reporting - User training and scientific presentations - Familiarity with software development workflows and contributing feature requests to application development teams Get to know Syneos Health Over the past 5 years, we have worked with 94% of all Novel FDA Approved Drugs, 95% of EMA Authorized Products and over 200 Studies across 73,000 Sites and 675,000+ Trial patients.
