PRINCIPAL BUSINESS SEMANTIC ARCHITECT

Description ROLE 1: PRINCIPAL BUSINESS SEMANTIC ARCHITECT (CONTRACTOR) Duration- 1 year Location- 100% remote Description Partner with business SMEs and technology teams to define, design, and help implement an Enterprise Semantic Layer that establishes consistent business concepts, terminology, metrics, relationships, and hierarchies across the organization. The goal is to create a reusable business foundation that can be leveraged by analytics, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled solutions. The role will build upon existing semantic modeling standards, artifacts, and implementation patterns to expand and mature the organization's semantic layer capability. Candidates should have prior experience leading or contributing to similar efforts, including: • Semantic layer or semantic model implementation • Business concept and metric definition • Business glossary or vocabulary development • Knowledge or information architecture • Metadata, governance, or data stewardship initiatives • Collaboration across business and technology teams Experience creating and managing semantic artifacts, metadata structures, controlled vocabularies, business definitions, mappings, and related documentation assets used to implement and maintain an enterprise semantic layer is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities • Define business concepts, terminology, metrics, and relationships • Design and help implement the Enterprise Semantic Layer • Create and maintain semantic artifacts, definitions, mappings, and supporting documentation • Work within established standards and implementation patterns while identifying opportunities for improvement • Facilitate alignment between business and technology stakeholders • Establish governance processes and ownership models • Develop recommendations for long-term maintenance and evolution of the semantic layer Expected Deliverables • Enterprise Semantic Layer • Business Vocabulary & Definitions Catalog • Standardized Metric Library • Semantic Layer Implementation Roadmap • Semantic Governance & Sustainment Roadmap Ideal Background • Semantic Architect • Knowledge Architect • Information Architect • Enterprise Data Architect Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $84.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
