We are looking for a Principal Ecologist with 8+ years’ experience. You will be a part of our passionate and entrepreneurial Brisbane team and support the growth of the Ecology Discipline in Queensland. As a member of our ecology team, you will be supporting a growing range of projects within the private, government and the resource sectors. This is a unique role that is also offering leadership role opportunities with the ability to step in as the Discipline Lead for ecology for candidates that are interested in taking this next step in their career. About the Role Overseeing and providing technical lead role in planning and implementing ecological investigations and impact assessments. Review and approval of technical reporting, including investigation reports, constraints assessments, ecological management plans, offset strategies and impact assessments. Ensure ecological advice and project outcomes are technically robust, scientifically defensible and aligned with relevant legislation, guidelines and industry standards. Act as a technical subject matter expert and provide specialist input into complex ecological issues, risks and constraints. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, consultants and other project stakeholders. Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, developing client relationships and providing technical input into proposals and tenders. Supporting the well-being and development of team members. Monitor, manage and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including utilisation, work in hand, project performance, resourcing and recruitment targets. Develop and implement the discipline business plan, including growth strategies, financial targets, resource requirements and market opportunities. Manage team capacity and resourcing. Promote consistent standards, processes and quality across the discipline. Collaborate with other Discipline Leads and senior leadership to ensure effective cross-discipline coordination and delivery. About You You are looking to be a part of, contribute and potentially lead to the growth and development of an ecology team and discipline 8 years of relevant ecological experience, mostly in Queensland, in a similar role within industry, consulting or government Experience in leading the delivery of ecological field and monitoring programs as well as reviewing technical reports Class C, open licence required and experience with 4WD desirable Ability and willingness to travel as required, including working remotely with other ecologists in the field Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data management systems is preferrable The Benefits Competitive remuneration and benefits.
