Take the next step in your career with us! Position Specific Description This role has the option for remote work in the state of Colorado. This role is responsible for supporting the engineering, review, execution, and validation of Transmission Switchyard projects with focus on nuclear generation facilities, including both Greenfield and Brownfield interconnection switchyards for Transmission Owners. The Switchyard Engineer will contribute to switchyard engineering activities from conceptual design through construction and commissioning, ensuring alignment with nuclear station requirements, transmission owner specifications, and regulatory standards. Duties & Responsibilities: Project oversight of the Engineering Scope of NEER Greenfield and Brownfield Switchyard Engineering projects, with a focus on nuclear generation interconnections: Execution of assigned tasks from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution). Securing engineering consulting resources from a list of approved suppliers by developing a scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group. Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a station site, support any engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the switchyard. Coordinating the engineering deliverables including scope of work documents, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Issued for Construction, design criteria and As-built drawings. Coordination with other groups to ensure that the assigned E&C switchyard projects are successful.  Generally responsible for representing E&C’s internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management. Support Transmission Services during review of interconnection documentation including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies and Interconnection agreements and ensures that Transmission Owner requirements and E&C engineering design are consistent and in compliance with all ISO requirements and incorporated into the project design. Must be able to work with and communicate often to the respective transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure project deliverables will meet specific off-taker requirements, are timely and accurate. Works collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans and lines of demarcation. Ensures projects are efficiently, cost effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department process, procedures, industry standards and policies. Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions and/or hearings. Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance/adapt their designs to better integrate with NEER’s philosophies. Job Overview This job is responsible for applying diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Employees in this role evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects. This position conducts analysis on system performance and reliability strategy and provides recommendations. Job Duties & Responsibilities • Provides engineering, design and environmental support • Tracks and reports on project negotiations and performance • Delivers company standards, policies, training, and support of organization • Prepares communications, presentations and provides support at meetings • Formulates researches, and develops improvement measures • Works with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements and project costs • Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements • Ability to work extended hours • Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Valid Driver's License (NON CDL) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (non-Engineering Technology), OR Master’s degree in Engineering, if the bachelor’s degree is not in a pure engineering field At least one degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) must be from an ABET-accredited program Experience: 7+ years post-Bachelor’s degree in engineering Preferred Qualifications • Certified Professional Engineer (PE) • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified • Master's Degree • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified • Six Sigma Master Black Belt The base pay range for this position is $126,400.00 to $189,600.00 per year. This range represents the expected base pay for a successful candidate and is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and internal equity.
